Park Sung Woong And Park Sang Hoon Confirmed For New Sports Comedy Drama
Park Sung Woong and Park Sang Hoon are set to star in MBC’s new drama “Coach Maeng’s Troll” (literal translation)!
“Coach Maeng’s Troll” is a comedy about professional basketball coach Maeng Gong, who faces the risk of being fired due to his team’s poor performance. To turn things around, he unexpectedly teams up with his own online troll Hwa Jin.
Directed by Hyun Sol Ip, known for “You Drive Me Crazy,” the drama won the Grand Prize at last year’s MBC Drama Script Contest for its sharp dialogue and compelling character dynamics, building excitement ahead of its release.
Park Sung Woong stars as Maeng Gong, head coach of the Big Pandas, a professional basketball team on the verge of missing the playoffs for a third straight year. Once a star player known for his fierce, all-out style—true to his name, which means “fierce attack”—he is now infamous as the league’s most stubborn young boomer coach. With his commanding presence and wide acting range, Park Sung Woong is expected to bring depth and intensity to the role.
Park Sang Hoon plays Go Hwa Jin, a malicious commenter who relentlessly targets Coach Maeng Gong under the username “Maeng Gong Extinction Squad.” A high school senior and basketball expert, Hwa Jin can break down games to the second. Driven by resentment and a thirst for revenge, he becomes Maeng Gong’s harshest critic. Known for his roles in “A Normal Family” and “The Queen Who Crowns,” Park Sang Hoon is set to showcase a charismatic performance once again.
