Park Eun Bin And Sol Kyung Gu Talk About Their Upcoming Medical Crime Thriller Drama "Hyper Knife"
Park Eun Bin and Sol Kyung Gu have shared their thoughts on their upcoming drama “Hyper Knife”!
“Hyper Knife” is a medical crime thriller drama that depicts the fierce rivalry and growth of two crazy geniuses who reunite: Doctor Jeong Se Ok (Park Eun Bin), who once had a promising past, and her former mentor Choi Deok Hee (Sol Kyung Gu), who caused her to hit rock bottom.
Park Eun Bin plays Jeong Se Ok, a shadow doctor who plungedx into despair after being betrayed by her mentor. Se Ok is a brilliant and passionate doctor, willing to risk everything for her work in neurosurgery. However, after losing her medical license because of her mentor, Choi Deok Hee (Sol Kyung Gu), she is forced to live as a shadow doctor.
Sol Kyung Gu stars as Choi Deok Hee, a world-renowned neurosurgeon known for his exceptional skills. Once deeply devoted to his protégé Se Ok, he later cast her aside without hesitation. Six years later, an unexpected turn of events brings them back together, sparking a complex and emotional shift in their relationship that deepens the drama’s intensity.
In a newly released video, Park Eun Bin shared, “Se Ok is the most raw and genuine character I’ve ever played.” She explained that she focused on portraying the character’s instinctive nature to convey the depth of her emotions as authentically as possible.
Sol Kyung Gu commented, “Park Eun Bin taking on a role like this? It was refreshing. She played a significant role in my decision to join this project.” On how she portrayed the character of Se Ok, Park Eun Bin remarked, “I wanted to express Se Ok’s emotions in a way that viewers could follow along with.”
Discussing his approach to playing Choi Deok Hee, Sol Kyung Gu explained, “I put a lot of effort into making Choi Deok Hee feel like a complex character rather than a predictable one.” He emphasized that he took a meticulous approach to crafting a more three-dimensional character. He elaborated further, “Deok Hee is like a man stranded alone on a deserted island. I felt that portraying him too rigidly would make him less compelling, so I focused on capturing the different sides of his character.”
Director Kim Jung Hyun praised Sol Kyung Gu’s performance, saying, “He delivers his lines so effortlessly, but when you see the final result, you understand exactly why he acted that way. That’s what made [his performance] so great.” He continued, “It was fascinating to see two actors with such distinct styles working together… I think viewers will enjoy watching how Se Ok and Deok Hee unravel their deep emotions and clash with one another.”
Park Eun Bin concluded, “I don’t think we’ve ever seen such a twisted mentor-mentee relationship before. I hope viewers find this unusual relationship intriguing.”
