3 Special Moments Between Choi Hyun Wook & Mun Ka Young From Episodes 3-4 Of "My Dearest Nemesis"
The newest sensation in K-dramaland, “My Dearest Nemesis,” is bringing a very special mix of comedy, office romance, and just a tiny bit of drama. It’s the best recipe to cure the Monday and Tuesday blues. Although their relationship started on an awkward footing, Baek Su Jeong (Mun Ka Young) and Ban Ju Yeon (Choi Hyun Wook) are quickly progressing into a more comfortable and friendly dynamic, giving us some very noteworthy moments between our main leads. Here are some of the most special ones for us to enjoy!
Warning: spoilers from episodes 3 and 4 ahead!
1. Learning more about Ban Ju Yeon’s hobbies
Ban Ju Yeon might hate that Baek Su Jeong knows about his secret life, but as they start to work more closely, he also finds some advantages to it. For example, he never thought he would get the chance to meet his favorite singer and get his autograph at a department store. But in order to keep his perfect facade, he makes Su Jeong ask for it and even takes a picture together. And that’s when their complicity starts to develop, as she assures him that his hobbies aren’t something he should hide, given that it isn’t something that could hurt other people. To Ju Yeon, who has always felt ashamed, her words come as a healing balm on his wounded heart. Her kindness, along with the beautiful setting, makes it a perfect place to fall in love, at least in the viewer’s eyes.
On the other hand, Su Jeong also gets the chance to see him in a new light after that. He might be a little odd, but he is still a talented and hardworking director. Su Jeong isn’t entirely judgmental, and although she had a terrible experience with “Black Dragon” in the past, that doesn’t mean she hates people who enjoy comics, video games, and things of the sort. In that sense, they seem to be just right for each other. Let’s remember that, despite the mutual disappointment they had when they were young, they actually understood each other pretty well, which led them to be each other’s first loves. Now, 16 years later, it looks like that chemistry is still intact and sparkling, even when they don’t know who they are in reality.
2. Baek Su Jeong and Ban Ju Yeon relying on each other
However, Ban Ju Yeon isn’t someone who easily trusts others. When someone finds a collectible figure in their office, his fears are triggered right away, thinking it might be his and remembering his traumatic past. He cannot help but feel vulnerable and remember all the suffering he went through when he was a child. Even after all his hard work, he’s never received his grandmother’s approval and still carries the guilt of losing his parents when he was younger. That is why he gets disappointed when he thinks Su Jeong also judges him for the music and pastimes he enjoys. The most infuriating thing in this is that the only person responsible for his pain is none other than his grandmother. We cannot blame him for his misunderstanding since he is used to distrusting people, but Su Jeong unexpectedly clears up the problem.
When he needs an electrician to fix a wire at his house, Su Jeong surprises him once again when she solves the issue. Each time they meet in these strange situations, they learn more about each other, which is the point about getting to know new people after all. Furthermore, when Su Jeong needs help after her father suffers an injury while at work, Ju Yeon comes in like a gentleman in shining armor to save the day. He also finds out about Su Jeong’s most vulnerable side, which intrigues him as he watches her cry alone after the whole ordeal. Although we are barely at the beginning, watching them slowly but surely break from their shells in front of each other is truly special and heart-fluttering.
3. Teaming up and having fun together
Communication is key, especially when it comes to work and love. That’s why Su Jeong gets more than flustered when Ju Yeon puts her entire team through a test to see if they are working properly. More than doubting her work ethic, what really pisses her off is that he uses her to set an example without her even wanting it. And if we know something about Su Jeong, it is that she isn’t someone to toy with. But Ju Yeon isn’t really willing to let those misunderstandings erase all the progress they’ve made so far, which is a relief for the ones who are rooting for them.
So, he agrees to make amends in the best way he knows: playing games at an arcade. If their rivalry is funny to watch, seeing them work together is even better. It’s so easy to understand why they fell in love before. They are very compatible, from their competitive nature to their honest personalities. Their natural chemistry also makes us impatient to watch them truly open their hearts to each other. But how will learning that Ju Yeon is none other than the “Black Dragon” she’s hated for years affect their budding relationship? That’s something we will hopefully find out next week!
