G-Dragon Smashes 1st-Week Sales Record In Just One Day + Tops iTunes Charts With "Übermensch"
BIGBANG’s G-Dragon’s long-awaited comeback is off to an exciting start!
On February 25 at 2 p.m. KST, G-Dragon made his highly-anticipated return with his third studio album “Übermensch.” Immediately upon its release, both the album and its songs shot to the top of music charts both within Korea and abroad.
On February 28, his agency Galaxy Corporation announced that as of the day before (February 27 KST), “Übermensch” had already soared to No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums charts in at least 28 different regions—including Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Macau, France, Sweden, Canada, Norway, Russia, Finland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Bahrain, Brunei, Chile, Mongolia, Oman, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, according to Hanteo Chart, “Übermensch” sold an impressive total of 639,176 copies on its first day of sales alone—managing to break G-Dragon’s previous first-week sales record of 46,397 (set by his second solo mini album “Kwon Ji Yong” back in 2017) within just one day.
With the rest of the week still left to go, it remains to be seen just how much higher G-Dragon’s record will climb by the end of March 3.
Congratulations to G-Dragon!
