ILLIT Becomes Fastest Girl Group To Go Double Platinum With A Song In Japan; Rosé, LE SSERAFIM, And IU Go Platinum And Gold

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.

This month, ILLIT set a new record with their hit debut track “Magnetic,” which was certified double platinum after surpassing 200 million streams. “Magnetic” managed to achieve the feat in just 10 months—making it the fastest girl group song in RIAJ history to earn a double platinum certification for streaming.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” and Shaun’s “Way Back Home” were both certified platinum for reaching 100 million streams each in Japan.

Finally, LE SSERAFIM’s “CRAZY” and IU’s “Celebrity” were both certified gold after surpassing 50 million streams each in Japan.

Congratulations to all of the artists!
