Bong Joon Ho's 'Mickey 17' Surpasses 1 Million Moviegoers After Topping Korean Box Office For 3 Days In A Row

Bong Joon Ho’s new film “Mickey 17” is off to a strong start at the Korean box office!

Ever since its release in Korea on February 28, the “Parasite” director’s new film starring Robert Pattinson has enjoyed an uninterrupted three-day streak at No. 1 at the box office. (The film has not yet been released in the United States.)

According to the Korean Film Council, as of 6:55 a.m. KST on March 2, “Mickey 17” had already reached a total of 1,117,586 moviegoers—meaning that it took less than four days to surpass 1 million moviegoers.

“Mickey 17” is a science fiction black comedy film starring Robert Pattinson as Mickey Barnes, an “expendable”—a disposable clone worker—who literally dies for a living. As an expendable on a space mission, Mickey is assigned dangerous tasks that he is not expected to survive, with a new body regenerated every time he dies. However, things go very wrong during one regeneration when one of his clones—“Mickey 17”—is mistakenly presumed dead.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of “Mickey 17”!
