On March 5, tvN officially announced, “‘Signal,’ a drama which received great love, will be returning with ‘The Second Signal‘ (literal translation). Production has begun with the goal of airing in the first half of next year.”
First aired in 2016, “Signal” tells the story of a group of police detectives who use a mysterious radio that can broadcast from the past to solve cold cases. At the time the drama aired, the final episode garnered an average nationwide viewership rating of 13.4 percent.
“The Second Signal” will see the return of Season 1 leads Kim Hye Soo, Jo Jin Woong, and Lee Je Hoon, who will be reprising their roles. Scriptwriter Kim Eun Hee from Season 1 will also be in charge of the script for the second season, while director Ahn Tae Jin of “The Night Owl” will be joining the ensemble.
Furthermore, as the ending of Season 1 implied that detective Lee Jae Han (Jo Jin Woong), who went missing 15 years ago, may still be alive, viewers are curious to see how his fate will be depicted in Season 2. The production team shared, “In order to repay the warm love for Season 1, we are preparing for Season 2 with even greater depth and immersion. Please show lots of interest for ‘The Second Signal.'”
“The Second Signal” is slated to air in the first half of 2026. Stay tuned for more updates on the show!
