On the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer,” masked singer “Hakuna Matata” stole hearts with his soulful singing!

During the March 9 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, four contestants moved forward in their quest to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.

In the first match-up of Round 2, Hakuna Matata wowed the crowd with an emotional rendition of Exhibition’s “10 Years’ Promise.”

After watching his performance, the celebrity panelists heaped praise on Hakuna Matata for his expressive singing and beautiful vocal tone. Several panelists guessed that he was an idol, while others speculated that he might be a member of a rookie band.

Hakuna Matata ultimately won the round 77-22 and advanced to Round 3, where he performed a moving cover of Boohwal’s “Secret.”

Hakuna Matata also emerged the winner of Round 3, and he moved on to face off against the reigning champion, “Perfume Over Flowers,” in the final round.

Although both singers impressed the audience with their performances, Perfume Over Flowers ultimately defended his title as champion, leaving Hakuna Matata to reveal his identity to the crowd.

Hakuna Matata turned out to be none other than Jooyeon, the frontman, bassist, and one of the main vocalists of JYP Entertainment’s rising band Xdinary Heroes.

When asked about his goals for the future, Jooyeon replied, “My biggest goal is for our band to keep going for a long time. There’s a saying that a successful band is a band that lasts a long time. So, together with my bandmates, I’d like to keep making the music that we want to make for a long, long time.”
