Ryu Jun Yeol, Shin Hyun Been, And Shin Min Jae Share How They Prepared For Their Roles In Upcoming Film "Revelations"
Netflix has unveiled new stills from its upcoming film “Revelations”!
“Revelations” follows a pastor who believes he has a divine mission to punish the perpetrator of a missing person case and a detective haunted by visions of her deceased sister as she investigates the case. The film, which is adapted from writer Choi Gyu Seok’s webtoon, explores how their beliefs influence their actions.
The newly released stills capture the tense moments surrounding the disappearance of a young believer who vanished without a trace. The photos highlight the diverging paths of Pastor Sung Min Chan (Ryu Jun Yeol), Detective Lee Yeon Hui (Shin Hyun Been), and ex-convict Kwon Yang Rae (Shin Min Jae), the prime suspect. As they each follow their own convictions, their conflicting pursuits heighten the suspense of the film.
Sung Min Chan’s peaceful moment singing with churchgoers feels like the calm before the storm, piquing curiosity about the revelation he is about to face. The mood takes a dramatic turn in the next still, where his uneasy gaze and anxious expression while speaking on the phone leave viewers wondering what changes await him.
Describing his approach to the role, Ryu Jun Yeol shared, “I wanted to capture the desires and ambitions at the deepest core of human nature in order to express complex inner emotions.” He reinterpreted Sung Min Chan by exploring the pastor’s inner struggles with revelation and faith, setting his portrayal apart from the original.
Meanwhile, Detective Lee Yeon Hui remains consumed by guilt over her past, haunted by visions of her late sibling. Shin Hyun Been’s hollow, weary expression in the stills reveals a new side of the actress. Her transformation is further emphasized by a short haircut, a bold change that builds anticipation for the depth she will bring to the role.
Shin Hyun Been carefully shaped Lee Yeon Hui into a character who appears weary and detached yet occasionally reveals inner strength. She explained, “I focused on balancing the character’s complexities to ensure that her three-dimensional nature came through.”
Finally, Kwon Yang Rae’s empty stare as he gazes into the distance intensifies the chilling tension, particularly given his status as the prime suspect in the case. Shin Min Jae’s gripping performance will bring Kwon Yang Rae’s eerie and mysterious nature to life.
Shin Min Jae expressed his excitement about the role by saying, “I was fascinated by this character, which is unlike any I’ve ever played before. I focused on shaping Kwon Yang Rae’s physical appearance so that he could make a strong impression from his very first scene.”
“Revelations” is set to premiere on March 21.
