Lee Soo Hyuk And Ha Yun Kyung Grapple With Painful Past As Their Lives Entangle In Upcoming Film

Lee Soo Hyuk and Ha Yun Kyung’s upcoming mystery film “Paran” (romanized title) has unveiled a new poster!

“Paran” follows the unexpected journey of two individuals—one, the son of a perpetrator, and the other, the daughter of a victim—both burdened by the weight of their families’ sins, merely existing rather than truly living. As they embark on an unforeseen companionship, they begin to find a newfound desire to live.

Lee Soo Hyuk stars as Tae Hwa, a clay target shooting athlete haunted by the fact that he received a lung transplant from his criminal father. Ha Yun Kyung plays Mi Ji, a woman who hides her pain behind reckless crimes while struggling with her identity as the daughter of a victim.

The title “Paran” carries dual meanings. It symbolizes the turbulent event (波瀾, “Paran” meaning “wave” or “turmoil”) that shakes the lives of the protagonists, while also representing the idea of breaking through adversity (破卵, “Paran” meaning “breaking the egg”) to carve out a new destiny.

The poster’s tagline, “The son of a perpetrator. The daughter of a victim. A fate reversed, an unexpected companionship. Meeting you… made me want to live,” offers a glimpse into the film’s deep emotional core and its unique exploration of guilt and redemption.

Previously invited to the Korean Cinema section of the 2023 Jeonju International Film Festival, “Paran” captivated audiences with its gripping tension and became one of the festival’s most talked-about films, drawing the largest on-site audience.

“Paran” is set to hit theaters this April.
