Watch: Yook Sungjae Feels Drawn To Kim Ji Yeon While Possessed By An Imugi In Teaser For New Drama "The Haunted Palace”

SBS’s upcoming drama “The Haunted Palace” has unveiled a new teaser ahead of its premiere!

“The Haunted Palace” is a fantasy historical romantic comedy that delves into the tale of the Eight Feet Tall spirit that bears a grudge against the king, a female shaman who opposes it, and an Imugi. In Korean folklore, an Imugi is an imaginary creature that spends a millennium in water and is able to transform into a dragon upon acquiring a yeouiju (magical jewel).

The newly released teaser begins by introducing Gang Cheol Yi, an Imugi who failed to ascend to the heavens. The voice-over narration explains, “Gang Cheol Yi was a dragon who had carried out his duty for a thousand years and aimed to ascend to a higher realm. However, he was an incredibly unlucky dragon.”

The teaser then shifts to charming royal archivist Yoon Gap (Yook Sungjae) and shaman Yeo Ri (WJSN’s Kim Ji Yeon). After glimpses of several heart-fluttering moments in which Yeo Ri is completely captivated by Yoon Gap’s warm smile, he abruptly says in a brusque tone, “I’m not that guy!”

It is soon revealed that Yoon Gap is possessed by the evil spirit Gang Cheol Yi, causing him to exhibit bizarre and eccentric behaviors, such as devouring food ravenously and even jumping off the palace wall. These strange behaviors spark rumors that Yoon Gap has lost his mind. When Yoon Gap is summoned before the king, his actions only exacerbate his reputation for being out of control. Yeo Ri steps in to make excuses for his erratic behavior, trying to keep him in check.

But as the two continue to interact, a surprising connection forms, and Gang Cheol Yi begins to develop feelings for Yeo Ri. In a voice-over, he says, “Is it because I see her through human eyes? My gaze keeps drifting toward her, and I feel like I want to devour her too.” Will their quirky relationship evolve into something romantic?
