2 Difficult And 2 Happy Moments For Mun Ka Young & Choi Hyun Wook In Episodes 9-10 Of 'My Dearest Nemesis'

With a couple of episodes left, things are starting to fall into place for Baek Su Jeong (Mun Ka Young) and Ban Ju Yeon (Choi Hyun Wook). But before we get to see the happy ending of this story, they still have to face several challenges along the way. However, all of their struggles won’t go unrewarded, as we saw this week. Here are some of the bitter and some of the sweet moments in the latest episodes of “My Dearest Nemesis.”

Warning: spoilers from episodes 9-10 below!

DIFFICULT: Going through a brief but painful breakup

The mystery is over! Right when we thought it would never happen, Su Jeong and Ju Yeon finally find out they are each other’s first love. From that point on, everything happens so fast that you can barely keep up with the plot’s pace. Not only do they have to go through the shock of knowing that, against all odds, they fell in love once again, but they also have to face the ghost from their past. In this moment, we learn the true reasons behind Su Jeong’s disappointment and why “Black Dragon” being younger than her hurt her so much. That wound from the past also leads Su Jeong to immediately break up with Ju Yeon despite his objections.

And as if things weren’t bad enough, they have to deal with a brand new scandal that points out they are in a relationship after someone reveals photos of them having dinner with Su Jeong’s family. With so much going on, Ju Yeon has no other choice but to reluctantly let go of Su Jeong, showing us one of the most heartbreaking scenes in this show. Although their separation is relatively short, it is still long enough to make you cry your eyes out while seeing them suffer so much to the point Ju Yeon gets terribly sick. It is only until that moment that Su Jeong can let go of her past pain and focus on her present feelings for him.

DIFFICULT: withstanding the Chairwoman’s wrath

There are very few villains in romantic comedies that can be as despicable and infuriating as Ju Yeon’s grandmother. This woman has proved time and time again that she’s not only selfish but also heartless and ruthless. When she finds out about Su Jeong and Ju Yeon’s relationship, her first response is to get rid of him. She fires him without batting an eyelash, breaking Ju Yeon’s heart one more time when he realizes that even after all the years and effort he’s put into pleasing her, he will never be enough for her.

But this woman’s pettiness doesn’t stop there. After taking everything from Ju Yeon, she targets all the people who care about him. First, his secretary quits, and Su Jeong gets demoted and starts to work as a janitor in Yongseong. But plans to discreetly get her out of the company go astray right away, and instead, Su Jeong calls her out like no one has done before, something that’s completely satisfying to watch. And just in time, Ju Yeon figures out a way to get back what is rightfully his. After all, he is still the true and rightful Yongseong’s successor.

HAPPY: Bonding as a family with Su Jeong’s dad and brother

Luckily, not everything is about pain and struggles for Ban Ju Yeon in these few episodes. After becoming jobless overnight after losing his position as director in Yongseong, he finds himself in the hands of none other than Su Jeong’s younger brother and father. Although they cannot understand his relationship with Su Jeong, they trust her enough to believe in their love and welcome him with warmth and affection, something Ju Yeon hadn’t experienced since the death of his parents.

It is so endearing how they portray their family dynamic with these short but sweet scenes. Although Su Jeong has had to be the rock for her brother and father, they’ve always been aware of her struggles and all the sacrifices she’s made for them and try their best to support her as well. In that sense, Ju Yeon shows his deep love and affection for her by trying to prove to her family that he can be the reliable man she’s always needed, even if that means trying new challenges. And there’s nothing I love more than to see a man going an extra length to impress his future in-laws.

HAPPY: Supporting each other against all odds

Even if they’ve had a tricky road until now, the love between Su Jeong and Ju Yeon has bloomed so strong that it can help them go through even the hardest times, which proves once again they are true soulmates. While they have to endure gossip, backlash, humiliation, and unfairness, they seem to be willing to do it as long as they have each other. And Ju Yeon seems to be happier once he is free of his grandmother’s claws, just being himself by his girlfriend’s side.

On the other hand, Su Jeong, who always showed a strong and hardcore personality, is willing to open up to Ju Yeon’s hobbies and even accept all types of struggles in order to protect him. That’s how precious they are to each other and now for viewers as well. But how much will this power couple have to endure? We will discover if our “Black Dragon” and his “Strawberry” will be able to live freely and happily in the next and last episodes of “My Dearest Nemesis” next week!
