Yook Sungjae And Bona's Dynamic Shifts As An Evil Spirit Taunts Them In New Drama “The Haunted Palace”

SBS’s upcoming drama “The Haunted Palace” has teased the chemistry between BTOB’s Yook Sungjae and WJSN’s Bona!

“The Haunted Palace” is a fantasy historical romantic comedy that delves into the tale of the Eight Feet Tall spirit that bears a grudge against the king, a female shaman who opposes it, and an Imugi. In Korean folklore, an Imugi is an imaginary creature that spends a millennium in water and is able to transform into a dragon upon acquiring a yeouiju (magical jewel).

Yook Sungjae stars as Yoon Gap, a kind and sharp-witted nobleman who becomes possessed by the evil spirit Imugi, Gang Cheol Yi. After the transformation, he radiates an eccentric charm and an unmatched aura of absolute supremacy.

Bona plays Yeo Ri, the only granddaughter of a famous shaman. Despite her extraordinary spiritual abilities, she rejects the fate of a shaman and instead chooses to live as a skilled and warmhearted artisan specializing in eyeglasses.

Newly released stills hint at Yoon Gap and Yeo Ri’s intertwined fate, drawing plenty of attention. In one set of images, the two share a heartfelt moment, locking eyes at the edge of a road. Yoon Gap, dressed in a soft lavender robe, gazes at Yeo Ri with warmth, creating a romantic atmosphere. Yeo Ri responds with a bright smile, perfectly capturing the thrill of first love.

Additional stills reveal a dramatic shift in their dynamic, adding intrigue. The change occurs after Gang Cheol Yi takes over Yoon Gap’s body.

Now in control, Gang Cheol Yi replaces Yoon Gap’s warmth with his signature sly grin and playful gaze, radiating mischievous energy. The once-sweet connection between him and Yeo Ri is gone, replaced by fiery tension—making even a glance between them feel like a showdown.

In a particularly humorous moment, an exasperated Yeo Ri clamps a hand over Gang Cheol Yi’s mouth as if to silence him. Yet, despite their constant bickering, they remain inseparable, teasing a love-hate relationship filled with chaos and romance.
