4 Things We Loved In The Final Episodes Of 'My Dearest Nemesis'

My Dearest Nemesis” has come to an end, and although it is sad to say goodbye to Baek Su Jeong (Mun Ka Young) and Ban Ju Yeon (Choi Hyun Wook), this K-drama gifted us with very enjoyable moments in its last episodes. From tears to laughs, love, and forgiveness, the story came to a full circle perfectly for all of those who followed this show from the beginning. Here are all the moments we loved to watch in the finale of this K-drama!

Warning: spoilers from episodes 11-12 below!

1. The success of Yongseong’s renewal project

Apart from winning Su Jeong’s heart, the main and most important mission for Ban Ju Yeon was to make the Yongseong department store one of the best in the market. Although we didn’t get to see in detail what was going on to make it possible, we saw a little bit of business plotting, the revealing of frauds, and even the typical moment in which the male lead opens up his heart to convenience a famous artist to be part of their grand opening after an unexpected scandal. It might have seemed a bit rushed for some, but for the sake of the romantic plot, I’m grateful the final succeeding moments of their project were played in that way.

Being an office-romance K-drama, the show could have fallen into a lot of typical and overused clichés, but it didn’t. Instead, we mainly saw how Su Jeong navigated through malicious gossiping from her co-workers, gender prejudices, and even the conflict of choosing love or her career. Plus, contrary to some other shows where the interactions with the office team might be too cringy, Su Jeong’s team always showed endless trust and support, which is why it was great seeing them even bond together by the end, proving that a girl can have it all.

2. Ban Ju Yeon getting closure with his grandmother

If there was a villain in this story, it was none other than Ju Yeon’s grandmother. But after many confrontations, it was about time to watch them make peace with one another. After Ju Yeon declares he has no desire to continue being the official successor of her company, the woman finally realizes that there’s nobody more adequate for the position than him. It is a shame that it takes her almost losing her grandson to admit her past mistakes, but at least she musters up the courage and apologies for the pain she made Ju Yeon go through.

She does get a little bit of character development and even accepts Su Jeong as Ju Yeon’s girlfriend, under the condition to keep an eye on her and her performance as part of Yongseong. Granted, this change of heart doesn’t mean she is now a loving and sweet grandmother, but at least she isn’t the cruel woman who constantly crushes Ju Yeon’s spirit anymore. Instead, we see she even comes to admire the person her grandson is, and that is all that families should be about.

3. Seo Ha Jin and Kim Shin Won staying together

The ending of our secondary couple was nothing but true to their chaotic, sweet, and funny personalities. After much hesitation, Seo Ha Jin (Im Se Mi) is able to let go of the insecurities that her failed marriage left in her heart and finally opens up to Kim Shin Won (Kwak Si Yang). However, due to their past conflicts, he rejects her and decides to step back to protect his pride. Luckily, this separation lasts less than we take to spell breakup, and in a hilarious drunken phone call, they confess their love for each other.

Surprisingly, this unexpected moment turns out to be not only good for their relationship but also for Ha Jin’s restaurant, as it becomes viral after someone posts their confession on the internet. Although they didn’t have that much screen time throughout the show, they left a strong impression with their straightforward and mature relationship, proving that sometimes uncomplicated and honest relationships can be the most enjoyable to watch. Hopefully, we will get to see more couples like this in future K-dramas.

4. Baek Su Jeong and Ban Ju Yeon loving each other dearly

There’s nothing more satisfying to watch than the moment when a lead couple’s love is fully in bloom. In these last episodes, Ban Ju Yeon and Baek Su Jeong have both let go of all of their wounds and disappointments from the past, and they also aren’t afraid to show their mutual affections. They constantly support each other until the end, whether it is for work issues or family struggles.

This is shown by Ju Yeon’s willingness to go abroad with Su Jeong so she can pursue a better job opportunity or his patience to stay by her side until she finds a hobby to broaden her interests. Ultimately, they both decide to stay at Yongseong, which is exactly where they belong. Their reassuring presence and overflowing love make each other bloom even more, realizing that they don’t have to be alone ever again. With them happily walking together hand in hand to the sunset, we can say goodbye to “My Dearest Nemesis”!
