Yook Sungjae And Kim Ji Yeon Prepare For A Battle Of Fate In Upcoming Drama “The Haunted Palace” Posters
SBS’s upcoming drama “The Haunted Palace” has unveiled new character posters featuring BTOB’s Yook Sungjae and WJSN’s Kim Ji Yeon (Bona)!
“The Haunted Palace” is a fantasy historical romantic comedy that delves into the tale of the Eight Feet Tall spirit that bears a grudge against the king, a female shaman who opposes it, and an Imugi. In Korean folklore, an Imugi is an imaginary creature that spends a millennium in water and is able to transform into a dragon upon acquiring a yeouiju (magical jewel).
Yook Sungjae stars as Yoon Gap, a royal archivist possessed by the evil god Imugi Gang Cheol and the first love of Yeo Ri. Kim Ji Yeon plays Yeo Ri, the only granddaughter of a famous shaman. While she has powerful spiritual abilities, Yeo Ri rejects her fate as a shaman and instead becomes a skilled eyeglass artisan. Their complicated relationship creates a love-hate romance.
In the newly released poster, Yook Sungjae embodies the commanding presence of the evil god Imugi, Gang Cheol. Now in possession of Yoon Gap’s body, Gang Cheol exudes arrogance, standing with a smug smile and one leg casually propped. His black robe is adorned with mysterious scale patterns, while a massive sword rests on his shoulder. Behind him, an ascending Imugi further amplifies his aura of power. From mischievous charm to overwhelming charisma, Yook Sungjae is expected to bring the ancient Imugi’s complex nature to life in a riveting performance.
Meanwhile, Kim Ji Yeon captivates with her elegant presence and unwavering determination. Clad in a green-tinted shamanic robe, she portrays Yeo Ri, a spirit medium who refuses to accept her fate as a shaman, piquing curiosity about her journey. The Imugi engraving on the fan she holds suggests an inescapable bond with Gang Cheol, adding an air of intrigue. As the pure-hearted soul who enthralls the Imugi, Yeo Ri will showcase a strong and independent charm. With excitement growing around Kim Ji Yeon’s portrayal, viewers eagerly anticipate how the characters’ fates will become further entangled.
The character posters also feature key quotes that build anticipation for their love-hate romance. Gang Cheol’s poster includes the line, “You’re going to find his spirit and return it? That’s ridiculous!” Meanwhile, Yeo Ri’s poster features her determined vow, “My lord, I will save you no matter what.” These lines tease the duo’s constant clashes over body and soul, offering a glimpse into their intense relationship. With their gripping push-and-pull dynamic, the unique pairing of the Imugi and the shaman only adds to the anticipation surrounding Yook Sungjae and Kim Ji Yeon’s on-screen chemistry.
“The Haunted Palace” is scheduled to premiere on April 18 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
