"Resident Playbook" Creator Shin Won Ho Shares Insights Into Drama's Unique Setting, Story, And More
Creator Shin Won Ho of the upcoming tvN drama “Resident Playbook” has shared his insights into the drama!
A spin-off of the hit series “Hospital Playlist,” “Resident Playbook” will depict the realistic and relatable hospital lives, growth, and heartwarming friendships of residents at the Jongro branch of Yulje Medical Center.
Creator Shin Won Ho explained the choice of setting, saying, “We wanted to heighten the focus by centering on obstetrics and gynecology while covering stories from both fields to bring a fresh perspective. Among all the departments in a hospital, obstetrics and gynecology uniquely encapsulates every phase of life—birth, aging, illness, and death—which is why we chose it.”
He further elaborated, “I thought, isn’t obstetrics and gynecology the only department where people cry and yet receive congratulations? Obstetrics deals with the beginning of life, while gynecology portrays moments of pain and even the end of life. It’s a department where you can indirectly witness the entirety of life, which I found fascinating.”
Shin Won Ho also added, “In a way, ‘Resident Playbook’ is a story about all the beginnings in the world. It’s about young professionals starting their first jobs, newborn babies just entering the world, and women becoming mothers for the first time. I think viewers will enjoy seeing it from that perspective,” further raising anticipation for the show.
“Resident Playbook” is set to premiere on April 12 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
