Watch: Go Youn Jung, Shin Si Ah, Kang You Seok, And Han Ye Ji Begin Their Chaotic Residencies In "Resident Playbook" Teaser
tvN’s upcoming drama “Resident Playbook” has unveiled a new highlight video ahead of its premiere!
A spin-off of the hit series “Hospital Playlist,” “Resident Playbook” will follow four obstetrics and gynecology residents at the Jongro branch of Yulje Medical Center—Oh Yi Young (Go Youn Jung), Pyo Nam Kyung (Shin Si Ah), Um Jae Il (Kang You Seok), and Kim Sa Bi (Han Ye Ji)—and depict their realistic and relatable hospital lives, growth, and heartwarming friendships.
The newly released video starts with Um Jae Il playfully revealing an interesting observation: by combining the initials of the four main characters—Oh Yi Young’s “O”, Kim Sa Bi’s “B”, Pyo Nam Kyung (whose Korean name can also be romanized as “Nam Gyung”)’s “G”, and Um Jae Il’s stage name Jay with “Y”—you get “OB-GY(N).”
This wordplay leads into a series of character introductions. Oh Yi Young, who returns to the hospital to repay a debt, struggles to get on the good side of her superiors. Pyo Nam Kyung, who attended the same high school as Oh Yi Young, introduces herself with, “Although my appearance may seem like that of a Seoul city slicker, my personality is actually quite laid-back.”
Um Jae Il, a former idol, introduces himself with his stage name “Um Jay” and even gives out unsolicited autographs. His passionate actions speak louder than words, showing his enthusiastic approach to life. Meanwhile, Kim Sa Bi impresses a senior resident by revealing that she graduated at the top of her medical school class and also ranked first in the medical licensing examination.
However, the teaser goes on to show the four residents facing challenges as they are scolded by senior doctors and patients alike. As they struggle with self-doubt, the teaser ends with the group questioning their abilities and qualifications, leaving viewers eager to see how they will overcome various obstacles in the drama.
