THE BOYZ's Agency Apologizes For Sunwoo's Controversy + Threatens Legal Action

THE BOYZ’s agency has issued an official statement regarding Sunwoo’s recent controversy.

Recently, Sunwoo came under fire for a video that a fan filmed of THE BOYZ getting on an elevator. In the video, Sunwoo was seen entering the elevator before noticing that his AirPods had fallen on the ground outside and calling out, “My AirPods!” A security guard then responded by picking up the AirPods and giving them to Sunwoo.

When Sunwoo was accused of rudely ordering the guard to pick up his AirPods and receiving them in a disrespectful manner, he personally addressed the issue on a fan messaging platform. Sunwoo explained that even though it wasn’t captured in the video, he had bowed to the security guard and thanked him, and he also acknowledged that he saw how his behavior in the video could be misconstrued.

However, despite Sunwoo’s clarification, the controversy over the incident only continued to grow in the days afterward.

On the night of April 13, THE BOYZ’s agency ONE HUNDRED released a statement apologizing for the incident and warning that it would take legal action in response to malicious comments about Sunwoo.

Their full statement is as follows:

Hello, this is ONE HUNDRED.

We are well aware that, over the past several days, THE BOYZ member Sunwoo has been embroiled in controversy in the media and multiple online communities.

First, we deeply apologize for the fact that we did not properly manage this issue related to our artist’s character.

We are deeply aware that what is shown of Sunwoo in the video could lead to a controversy regarding his character. Sunwoo was also calmly reflecting [on his behavior] after discussing it with us.

However, we find it regrettable that the situation is currently unfolding in a different direction from what we and the artist were reflecting on. We deeply regret the fact that we were not more active in our management before this kind of incident occurred, as well as the fact that our artist behaved thoughtlessly.

All the artists in our agency must be managed while receiving protection from our company. This controversy regarding Sunwoo’s character is entirely our company’s fault, and the artist is also currently reflecting on things that he had not been aware of before. Based on a foundation of communication with our artists, we will do our utmost to ensure that such a mistake does not happen again. Once again, we bow our heads in apology.

Finally, in order to protect our artist, we cannot just sit back and watch while unfounded and malicious comments are being posted about this situation. We are letting you know that we are currently preparing to take strong legal action in response to [these malicious comments].

Thank you.
