Yook Sungjae Shifts From Obedient To Rebellious Toward Kim Ji Hun In New Drama “The Haunted Palace”
SBS’s “The Haunted Palace” has unveiled new stills featuring BTOB’s Yook Sungjae and Kim Ji Hun!
“The Haunted Palace” is a fantasy historical rom-com that delves into the tale of the Eight Feet Tall spirit that bears a grudge against the king, a female shaman who opposes it, and an Imugi (imaginary creature that is able to transform into a dragon upon acquiring a magical jewel).
Yook Sungjae stars as Yoon Gap, a royal archivist who becomes possessed by Gang Cheol, an evil spirit known as an Imugi—and also Yeo Ri’s first love. Kim Ji Hun plays King Yi Jeong, a fictional ruler who must confront the Eight Feet Tall Spirit, a vengeful entity determined to settle a score with the royal family.
The newly released stills below capture a tense moment between Gang Cheol—the Imugi spirit possessing Yoon Gap—and King Yi Jeong. In the image, Gang Cheol brazenly defies royal protocol, exuding arrogance in front of the king. Though appearing as an ordinary court official, he cannot conceal the reckless instincts of the ancient Imugi, adding a humorous twist to the encounter.
Meanwhile, King Yi Jeong eyes him closely with a look that seems to say, “Let’s see how far you’ll go,” heightening the suspense. The scene takes a more dramatic turn when palace attendants Eung Sun (Kim In Kwon) and Sang Deuk (Kim Chan Oh) are shown recoiling in shock after witnessing the exchange.
This unexpected confrontation between the bold servant Gang Cheol and King Yi Jeong has thrown the palace into chaos. Viewers’ interest has grown especially strong with the revelation that Yoon Gap—the man now possessed by Gang Cheol—was once a loyal subject favored by the king.
“The Haunted Palace” premieres on April 18 at 9:50 p.m. KST and will be available to watch on Viki.
