Court Upholds Injunction Barring NewJeans From Independent Activities + Members Appeal To Seoul High Court
The Seoul Central District Court has upheld its previous decision to grant an injunction prohibiting the NewJeans members from carrying out independent activities under the name NJZ.
Last month, the Seoul Central District Court granted ADOR’s request for an injunction barring the NewJeans members from engaging in independent entertainment activities, such as signing advertisement contracts without ADOR’s knowledge or approval. After the NewJeans members appealed the ruling through a formal objection, the court held a hearing to reevaluate the decision.
On April 16, the Seoul Central District Court ultimately rejected the appeal, upholding the original ruling in favor of ADOR and reaffirming the validity of the injunction.
“Even while keeping in mind the claims and supporting materials [that the NewJeans members] are repeatedly emphasizing through this appeal,” stated the judge, “by reading through the records, one can judge that this injunction decision is just.”
However, immediately after the court upheld its original ruling, the NewJeans members appealed the decision to the Seoul High Court. The idols’ legal representative remarked, “We will continue to diligently participate in the legal proceedings to come and do our utmost so that the facts can be clearly revealed.”
