Watch: Lee Jae Wook’s Return After 12 Years Leaves Half-Sister Jo Bo Ah Questioning Everything In “Dear Hongrang”
Netflix’s upcoming drama “Dear Hongrang” has unveiled its first poster and teaser!
Set in the Joseon dynasty, “Dear Hongrang” follows Hong Rang (Lee Jae Wook), the long-lost son of Joseon’s most powerful merchant family, who suddenly returns after 12 years. His step-sister Jae Yi (Jo Bo Ah), who spent years desperately searching for him, becomes the only one to question his true identity. As suspicions grow, so does an indescribable emotion between them—one that blurs the line between sibling love and something more.
The newly released poster captures the long-awaited reunion of Hong Rang and Jae Yi after 12 years. Hong Rang returns to the merchant family with no memory of his childhood, while Jae Yi suspects he might be an imposter. Their tense interaction sparks curiosity about how their relationship will unfold.
Below them, a young Hong Rang is wandering fearfully through a dark forest, raising questions about why he disappeared. The tagline, “Your hidden secrets. Your unspoken truth,” deepens the mystery, leaving viewers wondering if the returned Hong Rang is truly the brother Jae Yi has been searching for and what secrets he might be hiding.
The teaser begins with a young Hong Rang lost in a dark forest, searching for his sister, while a young Jae Yi desperately calls out for him. Years later, a string of imposters claiming to be the missing Hong Rang appear—each hoping to inherit the vast wealth of the Min Merchant Guild. Then, after 12 long years, a man appears whom no one doubts is the real Hong Rang. However, upon meeting him, Jae Yi immediately accuses him of being a fraud and denies that he is truly her brother, leading to a tense standoff as both remain wary of each other.
Meanwhile, the appearance of key figures raises even more intrigue: Moo Jin (Jung Ga Ram), the adopted son who stepped into Hong Rang’s place at the guild; Min Yeon Ui (Uhm Ji Won), the guild’s matriarch and Hong Rang’s biological mother; Shim Yeol Guk (Park Byung Eun), the guild master and the biological father of both Hong Rang and Jae Yi; and Grand Prince Han Pyeong (Kim Jae Wook), an artist renowned for possessing Joseon’s most discerning eye, raises questions about their roles in the unfolding events surrounding Hong Rang and Jae Yi.
In the final scene, Hong Rang fends off mysterious attackers with his masterful swordsmanship and fiercely declares, “You dare lay a finger upon my sister?” as he comes to Jae Yi’s rescue. How will the complex and tense relationship between Hong Rang and Jae Yi begin to change?
