Eugene And Ji Hyun Woo Confirmed To Lead New Political Drama
S.E.S.’s Eugene, Ji Hyun Woo, and Lee Min Young are confirmed to star in MBN’s upcoming political drama “The First Lady” (literal title).
“The First Lady” follows a shocking turn of events when a man, newly elected as president, demands a divorce from his wife—just as she is set to become the First Lady. The drama unfolds over the remaining 67 days leading up to the presidential inauguration, portraying the couple’s intense conflict while unraveling political conspiracies and long-buried family secrets.
The series has been in the works for six years and is penned by writer Kim Hyung Wan, known for “Dream High 2” and “Hidden Identity.”
Eugene makes her highly anticipated return to the small screen three years after “The Penthouse,” taking on the role of Cha Soo Yeon—a confident and celebrated kingmaker who has long dreamed of becoming the First Lady. But just as her dreams about to come true following her husband Hyun Min Chul’s (Ji Hyun Woo) presidential victory, he abruptly demands a divorce, thrusting her into an emotional and political battlefield.
Ji Hyun Woo stars as Hyun Min Chul, Cha Soo Yeon’s husband and the newly elected president. Raised in an orphanage and once a laborer, Hyun Min Chul rose to political prominence through sheer determination and unwavering beliefs. Shockingly, he demands a divorce right after winning the presidency.
Lee Min Young joins as Shin Hae Rin, Hyun Min Chul’s fiercely loyal secretary and closest confidante. Willing to do whatever it takes to support him, she adds tension and depth to the drama.
