On the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer,” the identity of “Nerdy Girl” was revealed!

During the April 20 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, four contestants moved forward in their quest to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.

In the second match-up of Round 2, Nerdy Girl performed a soulful cover of Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon’s “Fire.”

As the celebrity panelists attempted to guess the masked singer’s identity, ARTMS’s JinSoul pointed out that in a previous round, Nerdy Girl had bowed seven times in the same spot before leaving the stage. JinSoul therefore speculated that Nerdy Girl was a rookie—and most likely the main vocalist of a fourth- or fifth- generation girl group.

Nerdy Girl then offered another hint to her identity by performing a special dance cover medley, taking on snippets of the choreographies to IVE’s “I AM,” Jeon Somi’s “DUMB DUMB,” and Wanna One’s “Energetic.”

The singer’s choice of songs for her dance cover medley led the panelists to speculate that she might have been a contestant on a “Produce” series audition show.

Although Nerdy Girl earned praise for her singing, she ultimately lost the round to her opponent. When she took off her mask to reveal her identity, she turned out to be Choi Jungeun of the rookie girl group izna, which was formed on the Mnet survival show “I-LAND 2.”

Shin Bong Sun then asked Choi Jungeun to reprise her dance cover medley performance with her mask off this time, and the idol happily obliged.
