Park Yoon Jae And Lee Ga Ryung Open Up About Their Complex Villain Roles In “Queen’s House”

Park Yoon Jae and Lee Ga Ryung have shared their thoughts on their upcoming KBS 2TV drama “Queen’s House”!

“Queen’s House” is a new revenge drama about Kang Jae In (T-ara’s Hahm Eun Jung), a woman who loses everything after believing she had the perfect life—and her relentless fight to reclaim it.

Park Yoon Jae plays Hwang Ki Chan, Kang Jae In’s husband and the director of YL Group’s Strategic Planning Team. Lee Ga Ryung portrays Kang Se Ri, a woman whose twisted desire for her best friend Jae In drives her toward destruction.

Ahead of the drama’s premiere, both actors shared what makes the drama so compelling.

Park Yoon Jae said he was drawn to the project because of the script. “The fast-paced development, the intricately written characters—it made me wonder, ‘Can a drama really move this quickly?’ Hwang Ki Chan, in particular, struck me as a deeply intriguing character,” he shared.

He also revealed, “I also spent a lot of time thinking about how to portray a villain in a way that doesn’t feel stereotypical. What really stood out to me about Ki Chan was his strong attachment to his family. I believed that grounding my performance in that emotional core would make the character more convincing.”

Lee Ga Ryung remarked, “’Queen’s House’ is a drama where the relationships between characters are incredibly interesting.” Though it’s her first time playing a villain in a leading role, she described Kang Se Ri as “a character who stops at nothing to fulfill her desires. But in the moment, her words sound so convincing that they almost feel like the truth, which gives her a strangely hypnotic charm.” She added, “I was determined to fully transform into Se Ri—even if it meant being hated by viewers.”

The two actors also shared what to watch for in the drama. Park Yoon Jae explained, “’Queen’s House’ isn’t a drama where good and evil fall into neat categories. It constantly moves between the two, and that tension is something viewers should keep an eye on.” Lee Ga Ryung added, “It’ll be interesting to watch how people unravel in the face of Se Ri’s schemes and manipulation—and what kind of ending awaits her. I think the audience will feel both rage and catharsis watching it all unfold.”
