4 Times Lee Chae Min Was Concerned For Roh Jeong Eui In Episodes 3-4 Of 'Crushology 101'

Romance can be a little confusing for some people. But for someone like Ban Hee Jin (Roh Jeong Eui), with little to no experience in matters of the heart, having a crush on someone can bring more complications than she ever imagined. Fortunately, she still gets help from her friends and classmates, and even from the person she least expects it: Hwang Jae Yeol (Lee Chae Min), who appears to be a more complex character. Here are all the times he was concerned for our female lead in the latest episodes of “Crushology 101”!

Warning: spoilers from episodes 3-4 ahead.

1. Working together in the student council

While Ban Hee Jin, also known as Bunny, thinks she doesn’t have any reason to associate with Hwang Jae Yeol, she gets a reality check when she finds out he is another student representative. This means they still have to meet frequently and even go out to drink with their classmates for the sake of the team. Their interactions are awkward to say the least, with Jae Yeol still being unable to communicate properly, and Hee Jin unable to figure him out. Nonetheless, she is adamant about treating him like any other senior, annoying him in a particular way none of us can understand just yet.

But no matter how incredibly uncomfortable their relationship is, Jae Yeol is still a good guy who looks after her, even if he seems to be totally fed up with Bunny. When they get trapped in a storage room and she needs to urgently get out, he doesn’t hesitate and forces their way out of there, showing his wits and relentless personality. Although this doesn’t make the biggest of impressions on Bunny, it certainly does on viewers. As the episode progresses, we see new layers in his character, making you more intrigued about what is really underneath his cold and distant persona.

2. Warning Ban Hee Jin about Cho A Rang

Jae Yeol is always on guard around people, since it looks like he has a complicated relationship with his mother. But contrary to Jae Yeol, Cho A Rang (Kim Hyun Jin) is always trying to get closer to Ban Hee Jin. So when she asks him to participate in an interview for their student council, he accepts right away, showing once again his interest in Bunny. And of course, she can’t help but fall head over heels for his charms. He isn’t only a good-looking man but also the artist Bunny deeply admires, so it is only natural that she has a crush on him.

However, the thing about crushes is that you cannot always see the true nature of the person you like. Soon enough, Jae Yeol discovers an unpleasant truth about A Rang. Although it was expected—since he was too good to be true—it is still disappointing that this charming character is nothing but trash. Naturally, Jae Yeol tries to warn Bunny about him, as he doesn’t want to see her getting hurt again, but things don’t go as he would like. No matter how good-intentioned he is, there’s no trust between them, so in the end, she completely disregards Jae Yeol’s warning.

3. Teaming up with Cha Ji Won to expose Cho A Rang

Luckily, Jae Yeol isn’t someone who gives up easily. Once he has clear evidence that Cho A Rang isn’t a good person, he reaches out to the only person Bunny would fully trust: Cha Ji Won (Cho Jun Young). But interestingly, Ji Won doesn’t jump right into Jae Yeol’s plan until he checks the situation on his own. In these few episodes, we’ve seen how dearly he cares about Bunny but is very careful not to cross a line that could endanger their friendship. This is probably the biggest difference between a main male lead and a second male lead. Although they both care about her, their approaches are totally opposite.

While Jae Yeol is ready to get his hands dirty to dig out the truth about A Rang, Ji Won uses his wide resources to get the information he needs, even if they ultimately end up running together to her to prevent the worst. In the end, Bunny discovers the harsh reality in the worst way, and it is A Rang himself who shows her his true colors. Underneath all those smiles and sweetness, there’s only a selfish and self-centered man. One good thing about Bunny is that, despite the disappointment, she is a strong woman who can stand up for herself, and who doesn’t love a strong character like that?

4. Making an unexpected confession

When it comes to love, heartbreak is inevitable, but seeing Bunny suffering once again for another man definitely makes an impact on Jae Yeol. Suddenly, he has to let her go with Ji Won, who also starts to question his own feelings, and this brings a bitter sensation to him, making our hearts hurt for him. But after this incident, it is clear Bunny has a shift in the way she looks at Jae Yeol, although we still don’t know if this could lead to romantic feelings.

The most shocking thing about this is that, after getting slightly drunk, Jae Yeol remembers the first time he met Bunny. And everything makes sense now because we learn he is the one who had a big crush since the very beginning. With that, Jae Yeol joins the group of male leads who fall first and harder because he can’t help but confess his feelings to Bunny. However, with two incredible men crushing over our female lead, who should viewers be rooting for now? The only certain thing is that we are on for a wild ride in the upcoming episodes of this K-drama.
