Son Suk Ku Tracks A Chilling Serial Murder Case With Ruthless Precision In New Drama “Nine Puzzles”
The upcoming Disney+ drama “Nine Puzzles” has revealed new stills spotlighting Son Suk Ku’s transformation into a relentless detective!
“Nine Puzzles” is a mystery thriller that follows the story of profiler Yoon Yi Na (Kim Da Mi), who was the only witness in an unsolved case from 10 years ago, and detective Kim Han Saem (Son Suk Ku), who still believes her to be a suspect, as they unearth the secrets of a new serial murder case that begins with a mysterious puzzle piece.
Son Suk Ku takes on the role of Kim Han Saem, a detective from the Hangang Police Station’s Violent Crimes Unit who has never let go of his first-ever case from 10 years ago—the murder of Chief Superintendent Yoon Dong Hoon. From the beginning, Han Saem firmly believed that the victim’s niece and first witness Yi Na was the key suspect. For a decade, he has tirelessly pursued evidence to confirm his suspicions.
Han Saem is a perfectionist and an elite investigator who’s also a crime novel enthusiast. His obsessive attention to detail borders on compulsive, and as the new string of murders begins, he meets Yi Na again—this time working side by side as detective and profiler. The two develop a dynamic relationship that oscillates between mutual suspicion and uneasy collaboration.
The newly released stills capture Han Saem in his signature coat and beanie, a look that underscores both his unorthodox charm and his unpredictable nature. Known at the precinct for his unfiltered, go-all-in approach, he’s a wild card who doesn’t hesitate to throw himself into dangerous situations. His sharp gaze hints at a detective who sees through facades, and his unwavering focus reflects a man who won’t stop until every piece of the puzzle is in place.
Son Suk Ku shared, “I’ve always been a huge fan of director Yoon Jong Bin, so it was an honor to receive the casting offer.” He added, “The relationship between Han Saem and Yi Na shifts subtly—from doubt to cooperation and back again. We had a lot of discussions about the nuances that go beyond the lines or stage directions,” heightening anticipation for his chemistry with co-star Kim Da Mi.
Director Yoon Jong Bin commented, “Han Saem is a bold, razor-sharp character. I thought long and hard about who could embody such a distinct personality, and Son Suk Ku’s unique presence felt like the perfect fit.”
The first six episodes of “Nine Puzzles” will premiere on May 21, followed by three more on May 28. The final two episodes will be released on June 4, for a total of 11 episodes.
