Jung Zi So And Cha Hak Yeon Find Love Under The Night Sky In Korean Remake Of “Midnight Sun”
The upcoming film “Midnight Sun” has unveiled its first set of stills!
A Korean remake of the 2007 Japanese film of the same name, “Midnight Sun” is a music film that follows Mi Sol (Jung Zi So) and Min Joon (Cha Hak Yeon), who can only meet at midnight. As they connect through music, they fall in love and work together to pursue their dreams.
The newly released stills capture the distinct charm of the Korean remake, setting it apart from the original. While the original film focused on the first love of a teenage boy and girl, the Korean “Midnight Sun” tells a story about two young adults in their twenties, exploring their love and dreams amidst the challenges of growing up.
Jung Zi So takes on the role of Mi Sol, an aspiring singer-songwriter who, like many young people in their twenties, struggles with questions about love and her future. Despite these uncertainties, her passion for music burns brightly. Jung Zi So not only brings Mi Sol’s fiery spirit to life but also lends her voice to the film’s soundtrack. In the stills, Mi Sol is seen strumming her guitar, singing, and recording her own songs, offering a glimpse of the character’s heartfelt journey.
Cha Hak Yeon stars as Min Joon, a young man who works at a fruit truck during the day and trains to become an actor at night. Min Joon is a straightforward and determined character who is unafraid to pursue his dreams and love with unwavering resolve.
Because of Mi Sol’s condition—XP syndrome, which forces her to avoid sunlight—the stills capture the pair’s dates under the night sky, from quiet parks to moonlit beaches. These nighttime settings evoke a tender and dreamy atmosphere unique to their love story.
Adding to the anticipation are veteran actors Jung Woong In and Jin Kyung, who play Mi Sol’s parents, as well as rising star Kwon Han Sol, who portrays Ok Kyung, a supportive friend of Mi Sol.
“Midnight Sun” is set to premiere in South Korean theaters on May 28.
