Park Ji Hoon Dishes on "Weak Hero Class 2," His Friendship with Co-Star Lee Jun Young, And More
Park Ji Hoon has shared his thoughts on the newly released second season of “Weak Hero”!
“Weak Hero Class 2,” the sequel to the hit drama “Weak Hero Class 1,” follows model student Yeon Si Eun (Park Ji Hoon) after he transfers to Eunjang High School, still haunted by the trauma of failing to protect his friend. As he struggles to survive in his new environment, Yeon Si Eun faces even greater violence while fighting to protect those he cares about.
Park Ji Hoon recalled, “Before the show was released on Netflix, the cast watched it together. I have a lot of affection for the character Yeon Si Eun. I can’t exactly describe what it is, but it’s a feeling of familiarity and sadness. That’s why I also wanted to tell more of Si Eun’s story.”

He continued, “I was really happy to be able to film ‘Weak Hero Class 2.’ As I was watching it, seeing Si Eun make friends and finally smile at the end made me happy too. I had a lot of fun.”
Park Ji Hoon went on to share, “Out of all the characters I’ve played, Si Eun is the one most similar to me. In my childhood, when I was working as a child actor, the only people I could rely on were my parents. I didn’t have many friends and often spent time alone as a kid. Thinking about those experiences while acting helped me understand Si Eun’s feelings better. In that sense, I think there are a lot of similarities between my childhood self and Si Eun.”
He added, “Of course, I’m not talking about the action scenes. I related more to the emotional aspects and the time spent alone.”
Park Ji Hoon also spoke about his co-star Lee Jun Young. He shared, “I was very nervous when we were shooting in the bathroom together. Lee Jun Young’s punches are incredibly fast. You could actually hear the wind from his punches. Action scenes naturally require both actors to be tense while filming. If I lost my focus for even a second, I thought I might actually get hit, so I was on edge.”
He continued, “That day was also Lee Jun Young’s first shoot. After we finished filming, I noticed him walking with his hands in his pockets, and he really resembled his character Geum Seong Je. I even told him, ‘You’re really Geum Seong Je.’ His actual personality is quite similar too. It’s not that he is violent, which he isn’t at all, but he has a romantic and free-spirited nature, which I felt was similar.”
Expressing his fondness for Lee Jun Young, Park Ji Hoon revealed that they would meet on their days off, rent a practice room, play music, and dance together for fun.
Park Ji Hoon, who was a member of the project group Wanna One, was asked about his former bandmate Hwang Minhyun, who recently played the role of Yoon Ga Min in the TVING series “Study Group.” In the series, Yoon Ga Min is a character who is focused solely on studying but also has exceptional combat skills.
When asked who would win in a fight between Yeon Si Eun and Yoon Ga Min, Park Ji Hoon admitted, “I’ve never thought about that before,” but quickly added, “Looking at their fighting styles, I’d vote for Yeon Si Eun.”
He continued, “In ‘Weak Hero Class 2,’ Yeon Si Eun’s fighting style and endurance have definitely improved. He’s someone who uses objects and unorthodox methods, so I think he could aim for a knockout.”
Park Ji Hoon added, “What sets Yeon Si Eun apart is that he is also skilled at identifying weaknesses. He can use the weaknesses of others to gather information or lure people away from a fight. He’s the kind of person who thinks of variables beyond just the fight itself. So, considering that, I think Yeon Si Eun would have the upper hand.”
Park Ji Hoon also shared his feelings about the ending of “Weak Hero Class 2.” He remarked, “What I liked about the ending was that it gave me such a complex mix of emotions. When Si Eun smiled at the end, it felt like everything he had been through was leading up to that moment. It felt comforting and made me really happy, and I loved it. I felt so at peace that I ended up crying.”
On the possibility of a “Weak Hero Class 3,” he cautiously stated, “If ‘Class 2’ receives a lot of love, I think there’s a possibility for a ‘Class 3’ as well. I’m not in a position to say anything definitive about a next season, but I think it would be fun if we could continue with a story about Si Eun in his third year of high school and his journey into adulthood. It feels like something that seems impossible, but could actually happen.”
