'Sympathy for Lady Vengeance' Wins Best Film Award in Portugal

The Korean blockbuster "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" (directed by Park Chan-wook and starring Lee Young-ae) received the Best Film Award at the Orient Express Official Competition of the 26th Oporto International Film Festival.

Kim Ki-duk’s "The Bow" was granted the Special Jury Prize in the same category.

The Oporto International Fantastic Film Festival in Portugal, more commonly known as Fantasporto, is one of the world’s most esteemed "fantastic" film festivals. It features fantasy and sci-fi films that include innovative storytelling and an exceptional level of creativity. This year’s Fantasporto runs from February 27th through March 12th.

Director Park Chan-wook set a rare record by winning a prize at Fantasporto for two consecutive years. He received the Director’s Week Best Film and Best Screenplay Award for "Old Boy" last year. In addition, Director Park Heung-shik’s "My Mother, the Mermaid" was awarded the Best Film Award in the Orient Express Official Competition last year.
