Group "SS501" to Hold Fan Meeting in Japan in April
2006-03-16
The five-man music group "SS501" will hold its first fan meeting in Japan next month. The group, whose popularity is on the rise, won various prizes in 2005, such as the Best Rookie Music Group awards at the Mnet KM Music Video Festival, SBS Song Festival, and MBC Top Ten Singers Festival.
The fan meeting entitled "SS501’s Fan Meeting in Japan" will be held at the Rihga Royal Hotel, Tokyo on Apr. 16 at 1:30 p.m. under the sponsorship of KJ-net. It will be held in the form of a talk show, including a question-and-answer session, as well as a mini concert. Japanese fans are looking forward to the upcoming fan meeting as they will have a chance to receive gifts from the group at the meeting. On the day of the fan meeting, the group will hand out official souvenir items, such as autographed posters, lanyards for cellular phones, T-shirts, sandals, and towels.
Meanwhile, on Apr. 15, a day before the fan meeting, "SS501" will present an impressive performance to its Japanese fans through a live concert to celebrate the launching in Japan of the bureau of Mnet, a music channel. The concert will be held at Budokan–the indisputable center of pop music in Japan–in Tokyo, along with Shin Seung-hun, Shinhwa, Lee Hyo-ri, TVXQ, SG Wannabe, Epik High, Chae Yeon, and Jaurim.
The members of "SS501" have attracted attention both in Korea and Japan for their good looks and outstanding singing ability. However, the group has delayed its first solo concert it had scheduled to hold throughout the country for six weeks, beginning at the Gymnastics Complex in Olympic Park in Seoul on Mar. 12, because two of the members are scheduled to undergo surgical operations: Huh Young-saeng will have a tumor removed from his larynx, and their leader Kim Hyun-joong will undergo a Lasik operation due to his weakened eyesight.
"SS501" made a great stir last year by winning the best rookie music group awards at various festivals. With its beginning of activities in Japan lending momentum, the group is expected to grow as a top-class music group by engaging in lively activities.
