Apr 5, 2006
The "8th Women’s Film Festival in Seoul" will be held at the "Art Reon" Theater in Sinchon, Seoul for nine days from Apr. 6 to 14.
This year’s women’s film festival will be organized by the "Feminist Artist Network" and jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and the Okrang Cultural Foundation under the theme "Sailing across the ‘Sea of Daily Life’."
An opening ceremony will be held at the Cinema I of the Art Reon Theater on Apr. 6 at 6:00 p.m., with actress Suh Joo-hee and broadcaster Bae Yu-jung serving as joint masters of ceremonies. The festival will screen a total of 97 films in seven categories from 33 countries, beginning with the film "Sisters in Law" jointly directed by Kim Longinotto and Florence Ayisi.
Lim Sung-min, senior programmer in charge of the women’s film festival’s "New Wave" Division and "Special Division for Directors," recommended a total of five relatively more popular films out of 30 films from the "New Wave" Division.
Lim said, "Movie fans can comfortably enjoy these films that do not necessarily need the modifier ‘women’s’ before their titles. You had better hurry up and watch them because movie fans are rushing to reserve seats."”
