Top 20 - July week 5

After a quiet week last week there are a lot of changes on the chart this week. It usually happens when M!Coutndown was having a show. Most of the songs in the top 10 are moving upwards. The top 3 this week are all by newer artists, who debuted or having their 1st solo album. Superjunior finally made it to the top spot with "U". This song has been #1 in almost every chart in Korea, so it is no surprise to see it on top of our rankings. What is more surprising is the 2 songs that follow "U" this week. Typhoon’s "그래서…" (So) moves up 5 spots to No. 2. This song has been stuck at #7 for the last 2 weeks, but makes a big jump this week. Even more impressive is Ha Dong Kyun’s "그녀를사랑해줘요" (Please Love Her). This song debuted at No. 9 last week, and made a big jump to No. 3 this week. Let see if Typhoon and Ha Dong Kyun can challange Superjunior for the top spot next week, even though the scores of these 2 songs are quite far behind "U" now.

3 new songs this week, led by Kim Jong Kook’s follow up song "사랑한다는말" (Words of Loving You) debuting at No. 8. This song is my favorite song in his 4th album and I was expecting this song to be the title track when his album came out. It sounds similar to his mega hit last year "제자리걸음" (Walking from the same place). Both songs are written by Cho Young Soo.

Coming in at No. 12 is Cool’s "오늘하루" (A Day Today). The trio broke up last year, but recently released a compilation album "Forever Cool" with 4 new tracks. They even had someone else performing this song for them in gayo shows and took the name "Cool & Call". Once again, the k-pop scene is filled with Cool’s joyful songs in the summer.

The last new entry is by 2-member group CAN. The title song "맨발의 청춘" (Bare Feet Youth) from their 6th album made it to our top 20 this week at No. 17. The duo like to remake songs from other artists, and this one is no exception – it was remade from an old song by Buck.
