There were no gayo shows on air last week, but there was still a lot of movement in the charts. Lee Seung Ki holds on to the top spot with "제발" (Please), again with a very high score of 955. Koyote’s "I Love Rock & Roll" jumped nine spots to number two. Even though Koyote’s recent albums have not been selling as well as before, their title songs of each album are still always hitting number one or two. This one is no exception. Call them the most consistent hit maker in k-pop.
Moving up with an even jump is the first solo hit by G.O.D. member Son Ho Young. His song "운다" (Crying) moves up 10 spots to number four this week. Like Koyote, G.O.D.’s songs are always at the top of the chart in the past. Son Ho Young is continuing this tradition by himself.
The three new songs this week are led by former Click-B member Oh Jong Hyuk’s "죽을만큼…" (Deadly) at No. 13. He is the latest ex-member of a successful group from earlier this decade who turned solo. Unlike Click-B songs, Oh Jong Hyuk’s first hit is an R&B ballad. Let see he will be as successful currently on the chart as other former group members like Son Ho Young and Kan Mi Youn.
The next new song at No. 18 is by Im Jae Bum’s "가로수그늘아래서면" (Standing Under The Tree). We haven’t seen an Im Jae Bum (who I called Rod Stewart of Korea because of his low voice) song on the chart for a long long time. This song is coming from a compilation album "Past Romance" by composer Lee Young Hoon. It is a remake of a 1991 Lee Moon Sae hit.
The last new song at No. 19 is from the rock group Nell. Their latest hit "마음을잃다" (Losing one’s mind) is another vintage mid-tempo rock songs that we are familiar with them, like "Thank You" from their last album.
