Weekly Music Chart 2007 - March week 1

No. 1 song: Epik High's "Fan" remains No. 1 for the 2nd week with another high score (950). But they have another song "Love Love Love" already appearing on some charts (at this point we are not sure whether this is their follow up song yet), and it takes away points from "Fan". That enables the No. 2 song Lee Ki Chan's "미인" (A Beauty) to get very close to "Fan". "미인" (A Beauty) is ahead of "Fan" in internet charts. It will be a close call between these two songs to battle for No. 1 next week.

Biggest Mover of the week: Monday Kiz's "남자야" (A Man) moves up 14 spots to No. 14 this week. My prediction was wrong last week when I said this song will move up slowly and it responded with the biggest move of this week. Monday Kiz just had their first comeback stage performance on Music Core yesterday, and it should help this song move into the top 10 next week.

Hot shot debut: Tei's "같은 베개" (Same Pillow) is our highest debut song this week at No. 17. This is the title song from Tei's 4th album. In the past, Tei's title songs had a 100% strike rate – all reached No. 1. Let see if this song can do the same. In my opinion, this is his best song so far in his young career.

New songs: We have 9 new songs and 2 re-entries in the top 50 this week.

Songs to watch out:

5. See Ya – 미워요 (Hate You) Seems like this song is moving up 8 or 9 spots every week, it is running out of space for another such move. See Ya scored another top 5 hit, definitely no sophomore slumps for these girls.

9. Park Hyo Shin – 추억은 사랑을 닮아 (Memories resemble love) As expected, this song moves into the top 10 this week. Park Hyo Shin's title songs were always top 5 hits in the past, let's see if this song will move into the top 5 next week.

21. Position – 하루 (One Day) Veteran male vocalist Position comes back after a long layoff. It's our 2nd highest debut this week. This song is another remake of a Japanese song. We all remembered Position's "I Love You" – a remake of a Japanese song which became one of the biggest hit in 2001. Let see if this song has the same success.

26. Wonder Girls – Irony JYP's secret weapon for 2007. These girls are only in their mid-teens but have already demonstrated that they were very well trained by JYP. What impresses me the most is that they have been singing live since their first performance.

32. SS501 – 겁쟁이 (Coward) This song replaced "Four Chance". It's the third single from this album already and they are still going strong. Looks certain to be another top 10 hit for this fast-rising boy band.

35. Ivy (feat. Wheesung) – 유혹의 소나타 (Temptation of Sonata) Long awaited comeback from Ivy, who was the top new female artiste 2 years ago. This song is a "fun" song to listen to. Ivy's voice is different from her previous songs as she sounds very cute on this song. Wheesung appeared briefly in the song with his rapping. After working with JYP on her debut song, Ivy is teaming up with another hit-maker Park Geun Tae on this song.

41. Humming Urban Stereo – Baby Love I probably classify this as an "underground" song, but it is very impressive. It really reminds me of Clazziquai, but the song is more up-tempo modern rock and blends with electronic sounds.

43. Kim Hyung Joong – 동화 (Fairy Tale) A cover version of Michael Wong's big Chinese hit of the same title. This song has the vintage Taiwanese ballad melody but sounds amazingly well in Korean too. It's like a folk song, especially with the choir singing together with Kim Hyung Joong at the end.
