Remake of Korean Film to Be Released in U.S.

A remake of Korean film “Addiction” is to be released nationwide in the U.S. on March 28th. Starring Sarah Michelle Geller and newcomer Lee Pace, “Possession” is the second Korean film to be remade in Hollywood, following “Il Mare (Siwolae),” which was made into “The Lake House” with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock in 2006.

Released in 2002 and having starred Lee Byung-hun and Lee Mi-yeon, Korea’s “Addiction” is a psychological thriller about a soul switch. Two brothers get into a car accident, which leaves both of them in a coma. Only the younger brother wakes up, but he claims to be his comatose brother and feels the same love for the older brother’s fiancée. “Possession” also follows the same basic plot.

Two other Korean film remakes are waiting for American release this fall – “My Sassy Girl,” originally “My Sassy Girlfriend,” and “The Tale of Two Sisters,” a thriller based on “Janghwa, Hongryeon.”
