Lee Seung Gi gained much fame and popularity as a singer at the early age of seventeen and later moved on to acting, “The Infamous Chil Sisters” drama series being his breakthrough in the acting scene. However, Lee has not forgotten his roots in music, as he released his third studio album just last year and continued to receive much support with his title track, “White Lie”. This year, Lee Seung Gi has returned with his second remake album, “When A Man Loves a Woman Vol. 2”, amidst taking part in the TV show, “One Night, Two Days”. This new album features twelve remakes originally sung by male singers, such as Lee Seung Chul, Park Hyo Shin, JK Kim Dong Wook, and Park Jin Young, to name a few. Lee Seung Gi infused his own style into these hit songs, making them his own.

The title track of the album is “I Will Give My All”, which was originally sung by Jo Kyu Man. This is a ballad that starts off with sweet orchestral instrumentals, with the piano sounds played throughout the song. Lee Seung Gi’s voice is really smooth and expressive, entrancing listeners from the beginning to the end. The second single is “You In My Memories”. Unlike the title track, this song is upbeat with some jazz sounds. Once again, Lee flows with the rhythm of the song well. The only problem was that I just didn’t feel the extra oomph to it that would make me listen to the song again.

There were quite a few tracks I especially enjoyed, “Clumsy Love” being one of them. Originally performed by JK Kim Dong Wook, this medium-tempo number has a pretty catchy verse, which I enjoyed more than the chorus. Lee Seung Gi’s voice during this part of the song reminded me of singer Tim’s soft vocals. I personally didn’t enjoy the chorus as much, as Lee’s vocals seemed a bit strained in certain parts. However, I recommend giving this song a listen. I think my favorite track would be “Long Day”, which was originally sung by Lee Seung Chul. I love this song and I felt that Lee Seung Gi made a great rendition of it. Right from the start, his smooth vocals seemed to match well with the instrumentals. The last song I wanted to mention is “To Your Side”, which was from the “Lovers in Paris” soundtrack. As an avid fan of the drama, when I heard this song, I was thrilled. Lee Seung Gi didn’t fail to impress me with this song.

As a person who never really cared for Lee Seung Gi’s songs, I am glad to have been able to review this album. I wasn’t extremely ecstatic with the songs but this album made me recognize Lee Seung Gi’s talent and potential.
