Formerly a member of popular boy band, Click-B, Evan had successfully broken into the music scene as a solo singer in 2007. It’s been two years since then, and the talented artist already has two albums under his belt with hits such as "Men are Also Helpless" and "It’s Okay to Cry." This year, Evan makes yet, another comeback with a new mini-album, titled
"Sense & Sensibility."
The title track "My Head and Heart are Fighting" is a bold ballad number. Starting off with beautiful and mellow piano instrumentals, Evan’s soothing vocals accompanies it well. Throughout the song, Evan’s emotional voice is prominent and truly makes the song worth putting into one’s playlist.
The next track "Boy Fighting Against Time" is a medium tempo ballad with contemporary sounds. The use of the piano and synths definitely caught my attention right away. This song is similiar to the title track, having a very emotional and catchy chorus. The last track I want to mention is "Echo," which is another medium tempo ballad. Unlike the previous numbers, this song has heavier beats and guitar arrangements. The lyrics are very expressive with the repetition of the lyrics “can’t live” and the haunting guitar melody gives the extra touch to the song.
Though I believe nothing can beat Evan’s debut track, "Men are Also Helpless," this mini-album has proven me that Evan has true potential. The songs just seem different from the generic K-pop ballads I’ve been hearing these days. The songs seem very smooth with great instrumental accompaniment. Most importantly, Evan’s vocals are soothing and will melt fans and non-fans’ hearts alike.
