Comment: Kim Jong Kook remains on top this week with "Today More Than Yesterday". Before going into the military, Kim had three successive No. 1 songs in "One Man", "Walking From The Same Place", and "You Are Lovely".  He released his 4th album right before he entered the army and was unable to perform.  This song is a great comeback for him as he proved that he has not lost any popularity during his absence. Congratulations.

Comment: Moving up fast to No. 2 is Big Bang’s latest hit "Sunset Glow". It is the title track of their 2nd full-length album "Remember". The song was originally sung by Lee Moon Sae and had been remade by different singers.  Big Bang’s version offers a different feel as they incorporated their R&B, hip-hop dance style into the song.  There is a very good chance that this song will become our new No. 1 next week.

3. (+6) Brown Eyed Girls – My Style

Comment: What a fruitful year for Brown Eyed Girls. The quartet went from underrated to major stardom this year and now have another top 3 hit "My Style".  "L.O.V.E" and "How" both went to No. 1 and this song is getting close as well.  Besides Wonder Girls, no other female group has done better than Brown Eyed Girls on this chart in 2008.

Comment: Staying steady this week is one of the best male vocalists in Korea. Wheesung is known for his golden voice and is in full display again with this new R&B song from his latest mini-album "With My Heart And Soul". Singer Lee Hyori is featured in the MV. Lately we haven’t heard a lot of pure R&B songs, but this is one. Check it out if you like this style of music.

Comment: Staying at No.5 is SHINee’s new single Amigo. The title comes with a double meaning. In Spanish, the title means "friend", and in Korean, it is a shortened version of "You suffer if you love a beautiful woman". Once again a collaboration with Xperimental Music, Amigo is a groovy, beat-heavy dance track written by Yoo Young Jin, who also wrote the group’s earlier The SHINee World (doo-bop) and ROMANTIC. Comment: I thought this song would make it to my weekly bonus track one day.  It’s already doing much better than expected as it needed only 2 weeks to reach the top 10. This oldie-style song is a duet between 8Eight’s Baek Chan and ballad queen Lee Soo Young.  Baek Chan is the rapper of 8Eight, and we are all surprised of his vocal skills in this song.  His voice also fits very well with Lee Soo Young’s.  One of the best duets I’ve heard this year.

It’s a very modern dance song with reverse beats. The lyrics are about falling for a girl at first sight and trying to win her over by seducing her with intense gazes, as if casting a spell on her. Comment: The latest hit from the reality TV Show "We Got Married" continues to move up.  This song is the theme song of the couple of Hwanhee and Hwa Yobi, who fittingly is the vocalist behind the rapping by Untouchable.

Comment: Coming back from vocal cord surgery, Baek Ji Young traded her signature husky voice for a pure crystal tone and released her 7th album "Sensibility".  Since switching from Latin dance to ballads two albums ago, Baek Ji Young has enjoyed great success.  "Like You Got Shot Bu A Gun" is a sentimental ballad written by "Hitmen" Bang Shi Hyuk.  The song has already topped most internet charts in Korea, which usually translates to being No. 1 here as well.

Comment: This is an ultra refreshing song from all the pop sounds. Memory is a new female singer-songwriter who debuted recently. Even her album title "She Dreamed That She Was Flying Like A Bird" was very refreshing. The melody is very folk song-oriented, but you can classify it as alternative or even underground. It is more suitable to perform on a college stage, but she did perform this song on Music Core once. Check out the Live Performance link above.
