From the wave she created with her “chair dance” accompanied by her single “Crazy” in 2008, Son Dam Bi comes back with a full length first album known as “Vol. 1 Type B – Back to the 80’s”. Her album features a new style and concept, showing her versatility. With the “Back to the 80’s” concept, she is considered to be a “retro fashionista”.

To bring the audience a taste of what the 80’s held, Son Dam Bi’s “토요일 밤에” (On a Saturday Night) leads the album off as she brings an upbeat, head-bopping, just-want-to-dance feel of the song. Produced by the Brave Brothers, it surely brings listeners to the 80’s with the beat and percussion the song holds. If you enjoyed “토요일 밤에” (On a Saturday Night) then you also like “그만하자”” (Let’s Stop) as it features the same style that her title song shows. However, pop isn’t the only genre that is covered in her album; “느리게 잊기” (Slowly Forget) is more of a slow, ballad-like song that really accents Son Dam Bi’s vocals. With her training in the United States in early 2008, her English has improved tons with “Twice Too Many Times”; I especially like this song because not many singers sing full English songs and the fact that she would include this shows the versatility she carries.

Her soft-sounding voice is livening up with the sounds of album. Son Dam Bi has brought attention back to the past and can be reminded of the sexy, female solo singers some years ago, however, this time she is bringing her own taste into it. I would recommend this album to many as it covers other genres of music other than just pop.
