Plagiarism Lawsuit Against CN Blue To Be Filed This Week
According to Korean media, the indie group Ynot? will file a lawsuit against the song writers of CN Blue’s song “Alone” this week.
“Alone” was CN Blue’s hit debut single that was released in the beginning of this year, and is accused of plagiarizing Ynot’s “Bluebird” which was released in May of 2008.
Kim Hyun-sung, who is handling the case for Ynot?, announced that the lawsuit will be filed this week, and that they are in the final stages of gathering important data and evidence for this case. They are asking for songwriters Kim Do-hoon and Lee Sang-ho to pay up to 50 million KRW in damages.
Songwriter Kim Do-hoon, talked about the plagiarism accusation in February and refuted the claims, saying that the intro, chorus melody and chord progression is different.
Ynot? has been a popular indie band in Korea, having released their first album in 2002 and several albums since then.
CN BLUE started out as an indie group in Japan last year before debuting in Korea with the song “Alone.”
