BIOGRAPHY
For this week, our Soompi featured artist is Lee Seung Gi. Lee is a multi-talented entertainer who is active in both drama and music. He is a young male vocalist who made his debut in 2004 while still in high school. Being tall and handsome, his voice’s color is contrary to his soft looks. Lee Seung Gi has a low and powerful tone of voice that appeals to many pop music lovers. Lee was an active student at school and served as the student president in his second year in Sangkye High School.

He first started music in high school by joining the school band as the leading vocalist. While performing with his band in a small theater in Daehagno, Lee was scouted by Lee Sun-hee, former singer in the late 1980’s and ‘90s. After two years of hard training, Lee Seung-gi first appeared on the stage with the song entitled “You’re My Woman.” The song and lyrics were written Psy and is about a young man falling in love with a woman who is older than him. Lee Seung-gi has expanded his career to acting, appearing in a series of television sitcom.

Lee Seung Gi has definitely accomplished a lot this past year. First, he starred with Han Hyo Joo on the SBS mini-series “Brilliant Legacy” which received one of the highest ratings in 2009. Then he came back to the music scene with the release of his fourth album with the title track, “Let’s Break Up” and also held his concert at the end of last year. In January 2010, Lee Seung Gi has released one of the singles of his repackaged 4th album, “Like The First Time, Like that One Time” (featuring Davichi member Kang Min Kyung) earlier to thank his fans.

Lee Seung Gi’s latest hit “Love Teaches You How To Drink” is also from the repackaged version of his 4th album. This song, even though still a ballad, has a more up-tempo arrangement. It also features the rapping of 8Eight’s Baek Chan. “Love Teaches You How To Drink” is written by the combination of Hitman Bang and Baek Chan. This team has written many hit songs for different artists recently.

Lee Seung Gi has just announced his acting comeback as well and has been cast for the new drama ‘”My Girlfriend is GuMiHo”. In the drama, Lee Seung Gi will be playing the male role who is scared that his liver will be stolen by the GuMiHo, the ghost, but ends up falling in love with her. The drama is expected to air this summer. Fans will be eagerly waiting to see Lee Seung Gi
