Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2011 - February Week 2
Secret’s “Shy Boy” continues their amazing run on our chart, holding on to the top spot for the 4th consecutive week. “Shy Boy” is showing solid scores across all our sources, and is No. 1 on KBS Music Bank this week as well. There is a new No. 2 song which is G.NA’s “Black & White”, but the gap between “Shy Boy” more than 130 points. Chances are “Shy Boy” will be at top next week again.
Four other new songs in the top 10: Navi’s “Well Done” was falling two spots a week before, but moves up a strong 10 spots this week to the top 5. Pop hip-hop group Mighty Mouth also have their latest top 10 hit, the title song “Tok Tok” from their second full length album “Mighty Fresh”. Also, the new Jewelry is our biggest mover as “Back It Up” moves up 21 spots forward to No. 9. After long time members Park Jung Ah and Seo In Young left the group last year, Jewelry recruited two new members Park Se Mi and Kim Ye Won to join existing members Kim Eun Jung and Ha Joo Yeon.
Finally, See Ya is having their last hit song before they officially disband. “You’re Gorgeous To Me” moves up eight spots to No. 10. We wish all their members well in their solo careers.

THIS WEEK IN 2007:
This is a new segment where we go back in time to re-visit charts of the same week in past years. Soompi music chart begins in January 2005. At first we had only 20 songs and later expanded to 50 songs.
February Week 2 in 2007 marked the first No. 1 song of a very popular boy group. Debuting in 2006, Big Bang redefined the image of other popular boy bands at the time which were either dance-oriented good looking boys, or singing groups with powerful voices and perfect harmonies. Big Bang’s street boy image and hip-hop oriented music was probably a first in Korea at that time.
After releasing three singles in the second half of 2006, Big Bang officially released their first full length album “Big Bang 001 – The First Album – Since 2007”. Title song “Dirty Cash” became the group’s first No. 1 song on only its third week on the chart, unseating Eru’s “White Snow”. “Dirty Cash” mixed hip-hop, R&B, and pop genre into one, something that was new at the time but very common now.
After “Dirty Cash”, the rest is history. Big Bang went on to become one of the most popular boy bands Korea ever had, and they scored many more chart topping songs either from the whole group or members’ solo hits.
Let’s re-visit Big Bang’s first No. 1 song “Dirty Cash”:
