2ne1’s Japanese Promotions Postponed Indefinitely
Female hip-hop group 2ne1 has postponed all Japanese promotions indefinitely following the recent earthquake and tsunami that almost swept away the entire east coast of Japan.
“We’ve decided to postpone 2ne1’s debut in Japan indefinitely. Our colleagues in Japan suggested delaying it just a little according to the situation of the disaster, but we decided it would be inappropriate to prepare for a debut in Japan at a time like this. More than anything, we thought it’s more important to find ways to help and support Japan. So it’s fair to say for now 2ne1’s Japanese debut will be pushed back indefinitely,” an official from YG Entertainment told local media. “As 2ne1 will not be promoting in Japan for the time being, we think they will be able to focus more on activities in Korea,” the official added.
2ne1 was scheduled to perform on Asahi TV’s “Music Station” on March 11th to promote their upcoming Japanese single “Go Away.” However, the whole show got canceled due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan and the girls were forced to fly back to Korea on March 12th. YG Entertainment has donated half a billion won (440,000 USD) to the relief efforts in Japan.
Many K-Pop celebrities have already joined aid efforts in Japan, including Bae Yong Joon, Jang Geun Suk, KARA, Kim Hyun Joong, Ryu Shi Won, and Song Seung-Hun, just to name a few. You too can make a difference through these websites at:
