Here is the link for the recap of City Hunter Episode 11
Last episode ended in a cliffhanger, and this one as well.. and probably the next one… and then the next one… I don’t understand it though, I don’t seem to get tired of this show! Phew! I wish they would end one episode with a breather so we could all relax, I mean most of us are anticipating each episode anyways Sheesh! Anyways, let’s jump back into the recap, because we need to know what happened to NANA!!! (DON’T DIE!!!)
Yoon Sung and the bald guy quickly take Nana to Sehee’s vet!
Sehee, “Another gun shot wound?” She suggests that they take her to a real hospital, but Nana disagrees.
The worst is over and Nana and Yoon Sung have a moment together while she recovers. Aww, looks like Yoon Sung won’t be able to push her away after all :).
While Nana sleeps, Yoon Sung talks to the bald guy but more to himself… Admiring her qualities!
He decides to take her home, I mean why not, she already knows he’s City Hunter, no need for them to push each other apart ANYMORE!
Now while Yoon Sung and the bald guy are talking about Target Number Three, the light isn’t working and he notices that there is a bug! Ruh Oh! JP overheard everything!
Yoon Sung goes to confront his father, but he notices how the ex-officer and JP are arguing… about him! JP is planning on taking out Nana! (Here we see that the ex-officer has a conscience!)
OMG… Yoon Sung finally finds out that JP had actually kidnapped Yoon Sung! JP calls it destiny and Yoon Sung is infuriated, “I DIDN’T WANT TO LIVE THIS WAY!!!”
Yoon Sung sits alone at his apartment thinking about his mother, everything he knew just turned upside down!
Nana sees him and she remarks that she doesn’t want him to quit his job, she promises to forget him, she also says that her debt to him is now paid…
Yoon Sung grabs her arm and says, “Don’t leave…. Please…. Don’t Leave….” She walks away.
Yoon Sung being the man that we know and love, grabs her from behind and hugs her. (KYA!!!)
Meanwhilst, JP is back at the office promising PMY that he will avenge him, even if that means killing Yoon Sung. (Uhh what? Yeah.. like your friend will want you to kill his own son, I know JP is consumed by vengeance but this… was a lil… bit of a stretch, he’s becoming too one-dimensional…)
Yoon Sung gives Nana first-aid, she’s surprised that he knows how to do everything. “What kind of life did you live, did you have any other friends besides the bald guy?”
Yoon Sung “Yeah I had a friend who is swayed easily, is strong, eats a lot, and loves skinship…” (Teasing Nana)
Nana exclaims that everything is right but she doesn’t particularly enjoy skinship!
Yoon Sung asks her to stay. Nana asks if she can help, but he denies her.
While Yoon Sung is analyzing the dirt behind Target Number Three, Nana comes in with cofee. He tells her not to join in, but she is clever! She tells him that she’ll look for Yoon Sung’s mother. Haha Yoon Sung caves in! It’s funny to see the two working together, lol.
The communications crew + Nana’s partner goes to Yoon Sung to convince him to come back. (Jeez they are persistent!) Nana’s partner is also under the impression that Yoon Sung likes her. Haha when the crew go to Yoon Sung’s apartment, the bald guy is smitten with Nana’s partner. (Honestly I think she’s cute too!)
She asks to be shown the apartment! (Ack what if they find Nana?)
Yoon Sung deftly leads Nana’s partner away, Nana exclaims, “That curious devil!”
JP plans to take the money from Target Number Three and give it to YJ. JP thinks it’ll be intriguing to see what YJ will do. It will be “fun” for him to watch father and son duke it out. If he hides this, the nation will now think that prosecutors are corrupt as well.
Back at Yoon Sung’s apartment they are talking strategy, Yoon Sung will keep facing his father. Nana asks what kind of person JP is… but gets no real answer.
Target Number Three puts up a farce for the students who are demonstrating, he acts like he is very concerned and gives them a motivational speech. However, once he is walking with his secretary, he says, “There will always be rich and powerful sons/daughters willing to come to this college, of course these people lead society anyways.” (Uggh!)
Yoon Sung put a GPS locator inside of the implant that was being put into Target Number Three.
Haha I dont’ know why I’m showing you guys this scene, but I just thought it was hilarious. Having a bug in your mouth. Imagine, you can hear everything that is being said, whenever he burps, and kisses. It’s kind of gross if you think about it.
Yoon Sung’s mother is at a Buddhist temple. She is going to go donate money for the college kids. (She saw the news about the demonstration on her way to the temple she is at.)
Yoon Sung is asked to pick up Nana’s clothes at Sehee’s vet. When he goes there he notices that Target Number Three’s henchman is there! So what does Yoon Sung do?….
Yoon Sung goes on a shopping spree! He just picks out anything he likes… lol. When he goes back home Nana is surprised at all of the clothes!
Nana then makes Yoon Sung a bit jealous, talking about YJ saying that we should go ask for him help. Then Yoon Sung exclaims, “Don’t you know that he’s looking for me!!?!!” “You’re not Kim Nana you are Kom Nana, huh?” (Kom means bear, Koreans commonly use the word Gom to describe someone that is slow)
The bald guy comes with shampoo that looks like soap, but Nana hasn’t washed her hair! The bald guy offers his assistance and Yoon Sung is furious!
Yoon Sung says, “Ajushee wash your own hair!”
Haha, the two bicker while Nana smiles.
Yoon Sung ends up washing her hair, he tells himself, “Wow, I can’t believe I’m actually doing this.” Nana is thoroughly enjoying the experience bossing him around a bit.
Then as Yoon Sung looks at her lovingly she asks, “What are you doing?” Yoon Sung, “What? I’m washing your hair.”
The two begin to fight with shampoo bubbles with Yoon Sung exclaiming “Gom Nana!”
Yoon Sung is back in his office listening into Target Number Three. Nana is curious and wants to hear as well… It looks like they are about to kiss when…..!
Damnit, we see Yoon Sung’s mother giving a donation! (Of course Target Number Three will just keep this money for himself… So weird he wasn’t *this* bad or greedy before! Poor YJ 🙁 )
Yoon Sung rushes to the scene but he barely misses her… At Yoon Sung’s apartment, the bald guy comments that Yoon Sung probably wants to see his mother dearly, Nana asks specifics but he tells her to talk to Yoon Sung personally…
Target Number Three is walking around buying things for his wife, and Yoon Sung is taking pictures. (Oh my, is he using the money that Yoon Sung’s mother gave as a donation?)
YJ goes through Target Number Three’s numbers and he realizes there is a big hole of 2 billion dollars! (Approximate) He rushes to his father’s home and Target Number Three was putting away the money!
Nana wants to hear but Yoon Sung knowing that it is sensitive makes her leave. (I can’t tell if he’s doing this for YJ or he just doesn’t want Nana to hear this and be crushed…. or both?)
Father and son are arguing. YJ asks Target Number Three to give back the money to the school or confess. His father refuses, “It’s too late for me to turn around…”
YJ, “What if I go through with prosecuting you with the law?”
Target Number Three, “You’re a prosecutor you need to do your job…”
Yoon Sung is intrigued, “YJ… your dilemma has begun, I’ll be watching you… Tomorrow is D-Day”
Yoon Sung, Nana, and the bald guy take the money-truck but JP is chasing them!
Yoon Sung tells the bald guy to go through with the “plan.” JP’s car moves ahead of Yoon Sung’s truck and just like a scene we’ve seen before, he pust himself in front of the fast-approaching vehicle. (Now the roles are switched! Haha, I liked this scene.)
Of course Yoon Sung doesn’t kill his father, and when he goes out, he doesn’t even fight JP.
When JP and the ex-officer open up the truck. JP looks angry, but then he laughs, “Yoon Sung… how dare you trick me!?” (Was he proud? Amused? or just crazy-angry?)
The robin-hood trio celebrate together inside of the truck briefly!
In robin hood fashion, the money is given to college students and their parents! With personalized message from the City Hunter!
Haha, remember the girl that was mean to the worker? She didn’t get her share. (Justice is served, but how did Yoon Sung know her name?!)
The bald guy exclaims that they should have a party! So the bald guy tells Nana and Yoon Sung to go shopping for whatever they want to eat!
As they are leaving, Nana drops a tomato… the automatic doors close.. and suddenly the lights go dark! Oh noes, they are seperated!
A lone motorcycle rider approaches menancingly towards Nana… it’s JP! And… CLIFFHANGER GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Final Comments
Jeebus, the bald guy exclaims that his heart almost exploded when he saw Nana’s partner. My heart is going to explode if they keep giving us these cliffhangers. I mean, I’m pretty sure Nana is going to survive this incident as well, but.. there’s that lingering “unknown factor.” Uggh!
Nana and Yoon Sung are finally living together again, and their love is blossoming. Sigh, it’s funny you know, Yoon Sung goes through all that work to push her away, but he just can’t resist her. That’s magical love for you there, MAAAGGGGIIIICAAALLLL~
Anyways, I really liked how YJ and his father is parallel to Yoon Sung and JP. I am also curious as to how YJ will act in the following episodes, it must be so much stress for him >_< …. It looks like Target Number Three will be going down soon, and once he does we will probably see a glimpse of what YJ and Yoon Sung’s relationship will turn out to be!
Analysis
It’s that time of the week again! First thing is first, I really liked the scene with Yoon Sung last episode where he was calculating the money in his head (guesstimate), and we got to see what it looks like! This my friends, reminded me of another film that did something similar: The Da Vinci Code!!!
In this scene you see the protaganist of The Da Vinci Code putting all the pieces together. Sorry, but the geek in me just loves it when tv shows or movies do something like this! Two thumbs up for City Hunter!
Now, because this is probably the end for “the college blues” and Target Number Three’s involvement in the “tuition cut, student demonstrations,” I wanted to edify some of you about the real events in Korea that they are portraying!
1) Kyunghee University: Female Student and Cleaning Lady Incident
For those of you who don’t understand Korean, basically a student at Kyunghee University rudely told a lady to throw away a box of milk she was done with. The two got into a heated argument with the student screaming profanities at the poor lady. 🙁
2) Student Demonstrations for Tuition Cuts
This is an actual event going on currently and is a touchy subject. I’ll beef up this portion with more information about the controversy behind “college tuition” in South Korea.
I always like it when shows incorporate current affairs in society, it makes it a lot more relevant and important. I don’t remember where I read it, but when a piece of literature or art can become something that highlights certain aspects that show what people were thinking at the time it was made, it truly becomes significant.
