BoA, Yoon Mirae, and Baek Jiyoung in the Running for Last "Superstar K3" Judge Spot

The candidates for last of the three judges for the hit global audition program “Super Star K3” has been narrowed down to BoA, Yoon Mirae, and Baek Jiyoung.

After completing the first round of auditions, “Superstar K3” is scheduled to air next month, and the program producers are in the final stages of deciding who is going to be judging along with Lee Seung Chul and Yoon Jong Shin.

The third judge has always been female artists who possessed both exceptional vocal and dance skills. This has been proven in the past two season with sexy queen Hyori in season one and the original diva Um Jung Hwa in season two. These judges focused specifically on the artists vocal style and performances on stage.

BoA, who celebrated her 10th anniversary in the business last year, was a strong candidate. This was largely because she had been recognized for her vocals and her dance skills, as well as because she was pinnnacle of the first generation of K-Pop. However, a there is now a new variable.

JYPE, SME, and YGE announced earlier this month that they have collaborated to create new idol audition program called “Survival Idol Kpop Star.” The audition is scheduled to air later in the year, and many are speculating that BoA will participate in “Survival Idol Kpop Star,” not “Superstar K3.”

Yoon Mirae has made appearances on “Superstar K” seasons one and two during the regional semi-finals. She has always been noted for her unique combination of not only great vocals and dance, but also exceptional rapping skills. As already demostarted on season 2, “Superstar K” has quickly became a audition program for native Koreans and foreigners alike. Due to this global aspect of the program, Yoon Mirae has become a strong candidate, as well.

Baek Jiyoung has also been noted by the producers for her one-of-a-kind soul-filled husky voice color, as well as for her experience with dance songs. She has also been participating in variety programs, and it seems as though her sense of humor would add to the entertainment aspect of the show.

“Superstar K3” will air its pilot episode on August 12th. The winner will receive the grand prize of 500,000,000 won (~$470K dollars), as well as 200,000,000 won (~$190K dollars) to cover for record production costs.
