Soompi Drama of the Week: "Spy Myung Wol"
KBS premiered a new romantic comedy this week titled “Spy Myung Wol,” starring Shinhwa’s Eric and Han Ye Seul. The drama is Eric’s first project since he discharged from the military last October, and he plays top Hallyu star Kang Woo. Han Ye Seul plays Han Myung Wol, a North Korean soldier who dreams of working for the special forces unit. Currently, she’s a member of the Hallyu Crackdown Squad.
Through a series of unintentional events, Han Myung Wol gets herself into a mess she can’t get out of: making Kang Woo fall in love with her and have him voluntarily cross over to North Korea with her. Like many other male characters in today’s dramas, the male lead is a total egoist and completely sure he won’t fall for our heroine. Well, little does he know, he’s already being sucked into her charms. “Spy Myung Wol” has its set of flaws, but nevertheless, it’s a refreshing comedy that’s upbeat and light. The rom-com airs Monday and Tuesday nights and also stars Lee Jin Wook and Jang Hee Jin. “Spy Myung Wol” will air its third episode Monday, July 18th, on KBS at 9:55PM KST.
