Jang Geun Suk Teams Up with AKB48 as Japanese Cosmetic Brand Model
On August 24th, Japanese brand TBC announced that Jang Geun Suk will join AKB48’s Maeda Atsuko and Oshima Yuko as main models for their cosmetic product, “Aesthetics TBC.”
“In the past, we signed top stars such as Kimura Takuya, Hidetoshi Nakata, David and Victoria Beckham to enhance our brand value. So this time also, we decided to go with the most popular top stars as our model,” TBC said in a statement.
Jang Geun Suk and the two AKB48 members appeared at the press conference held on Wednesday in Osaka. The Korean actor said, “I’m happy to be picked as the model. It feels like I’m representing all men. I would like to do my best to help Korean and Japanese men get more beautiful.”
Regarding the two co-models, he said, “Both are very cute. I’m a bit shy to stand in the middle, and also sorry to all the AKB48 fans.” AKB48’s Maeda and Oshima commented, “Jang Geun Suk is tall and seems like a deep hearted person. He cares for others and has a beautiful posture. We feel sorry to the Jang Geun Suk fans.”
TBC’s advertisement featuring Jang Geuk Suk and the two AKB48 members will first appear on 200 billboards across seven cities in Japan from August 25th. Starting from September 2nd, it will show up on public transportation ads and will hit TV spots from September 7th.
AKB48 is one of the hottest girl groups in Japan. Since their debut in 2005, the 48-member group has often been compared to SNSD for their similar concept and image.
