KBS “1 Night, 2 Days” and MBC “Infinity Challenge”: Blockbuster Variety Shows?

Two of the most popoular variety shows, KBS “1 Night, 2 Days” and MBC “Infinity Challenge,” have recently showcased scenes only you would expect from blockbuster movies, grabbing the attention of many viewers.

On the September 3 episode of MBC’s “Infinity Challenge,” cars started exploding in front of the cast members’ eyes. This was the unexpected start to the “Infinity Challenge Speed” special in which the seven cast members were required to complete a mission in 30 minutes and prevent a bomb that was planted in their car from exploding.

Upon seeing the warning car explosions, “Infinity Challenge” member Jung Hyung Don exclaimed in near tears, “Let’s do variety, just variety!”

The next day, on  KBS “1 Night, 2 Days,” viewers were also treated to the flashy life of a private jet. “1 Night, 2 Days” is currently airing their “Viewers’ Tour Part 3” special in which 100 individuals, each representing an age from 1 to100, embark on a trip with the “1 Night, 2 Days” crew. The destination of this particular trip was revealed to be Busan, South Korea’s second biggest city. In order to move the 100 viewers, 10 cast members, a whole slew of staff and caretakers, the show’s production team ordered a private jet to fly them all to Busan from Seoul. 

Kang Ho Dong, upon hearing the news, exclaimed, “That’s why you have been starving us all this time. To save money for this trip!”

Netizens’ reaction to these spectacular images were that of praise and amazement, stating, “as expected of the nation’s variety show,” and “it is the making of a legend.”

Make sure to watch the continuation of “Infinity Challenge Speed” and “1 Night 2 Days Viewers Tour Part 3” next Saturday and Sunday, respectively. These shows have taken off with high expectations and it seems like they will be a blast.
