Bae Doo Na Stars Alongside Hollywood Heavyweights in "Cloud Atlas"
The upcoming film “Cloud Atlas” will have a Korean cast member alongside Hollywood heavyweights Tom Hanks, Susan Sarandon, Halle Berry, Jim Sturgess and Hugo Weaving. Bae Doo Na, last seen on TV in 2010’s “Gloria” joins the star-studded cast of the Tom Tykwer-Wachowski Brothers’ new film.
Bae Doona will play the clone Sonmi-450 in a version of Seoul in 2144. “Cloud Atlas” is a six-episode sci-fi story, taking place in different times and locations, based on the 2004 novel by David Mitchell.
News agencies report that Bae Doo Na was asked to audition after the Wachowski brothers Larry and Andrew saw her performance in “Air Doll,” a Japanese movie for which she won the Japan Film Academy Best Actress award.
The Wachowski brothers are most famous for “The Matrix” trilogy. They will co-direct “Cloud Atlas” with Tom Tykwer, who has gained fame for his 1998 film, the Sundance Film Festival audience award winner “Run Lola Run.”
