Who is the Hottest K-Pop Star in Japan?

With the great success of K-Pop stars in Japan, let’s see which group/singer had the most success in the first half of 2012:

Kara is the only Korean artist to rank top 10 on the Oricon Chart’s total album sales from 12/26/2011 – 6/18/2012. Kara’s second Japanese album, “Super Girl” sold 282,657 copies, coming in at seventh place.

Girl’s Generation’s first Japanese album, “Girl’s Generation,” sold 209,670 copies, ranking at 11^th place.

Following Kara and Girl’s Generation, Big Bang came in at 26^th and Jang Geun Suk at 28^th place. Both Big Bang and Jang Geun Suk reached top 30 spots within a month of their album release.

In the singles chart, Super Junior ranked the highest among Korean artist by coming in at 18^th place with their single, “Opera” selling 178,998 copies.

In the DVD sales, Girl’s Generations’ “Japan First Tour- Girl’s Generation” took fourth place with a total sale of 148,718 copies. This DVD includes Girl’s Generations first live tour in Japan, which garnered approximately 140,000 fans in six cities around Japan.

With more K-Pop stars promoting their activities in Japan, we will have to see if Kara and Girl’s Generation can still lead the pack through the end of the year. We wish all of them continued success!
